The 44th speed hillclimbing season at Gurston Down will start on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th April. The two championship events hosted at the hill have both attracted large entries to entertain motorsport fans. This ensures that there will be no shortage of interesting cars, ranging from road going and modified production saloons and sportscars, to sports racing and single seater racing cars.
To kick off the weekend’s racing, Saturday will see the first round of the 2010 SBD Speed Championship, supplemented by the Bert Hadley Memorial Championship for Pre-War Austin 7s (split into ‘road’ and ‘track’ classes), the Richard Eggar HSA Speed Championship (which like the SBD Championship caters for all types of cars) and the Toyo Tyres Westfield Sports Car Club Speed Series.
Sunday sees Round 1 of the exciting Gates of Brockenhurst Gurston Down Hillclimb Championship and the BARC (SW)Top Ten Challenge, and this event has attracted the usual high quality entry. And for lovers of classic British sports cars, the event is also a round of four ‘one-make championships’; the Ginetta Owners Club Speed Championship, the Healeysport Speed Championship, the RevingtonTR/TR Register Championship and the TVR Car Club Speed Championship.
Admission to the event is £10.00, with under 14 year olds granted free entry. The track is located 1 mile west of Broad Chalke, 9 miles SW of Salisbury, Wiltshire. For further directions, please visit the Gurston Down website.
