The Didcot Railway Centre, in conjunction with RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre is offering a unique day out. This includes a visit to the home of the RBS Williams team, visiting the RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre to view the private Williams F1 Grand Prix Collection; a footplate ride on a steam locomotive; a guided tour of the Railway Centre to see the large collection of Great Western Railway steam locomotives; a sumptuous buffet lunch in one of Didcot’s Super Saloon carriages; a return ride between Didcot and Grove on a heritage single decker coach.
Of these, without a doubt, the most exciting part is the visit to the nearby Williams F1 Grand Prix Collection. This, the largest private F1 museum in the world is rarely open to the public. The only way to visit this museum is by sponsorship, or attending a corporate event.
There are four dates in 2010: All Saturdays, 17 April, 12 June, 17 July, and 25 September. The day starts at 0900 at Didcot Parkway station forecourt, with the short heritage coach ride to Grove, to visit the RBS Williams F1 Conference Centre. Here, there will be a complete guided tour of the private Williams F1 Grand Prix Collection including the Technology and Trophy Rooms, and a chance to sit in an original F1 racing car before visiting the Williams F1 shop. Refreshments are included.
Returning to the Railway Centre, on the heritage coach, for lunch, followed by the steam locomotive footplate ride, and guided tour of the Railway Centre. Other refreshments will be provided, along with free car parking at Didcot. This exclusive day finishes at 1700.
The price is £150 per person, tickets are limited; to book tickets, or for any enquiries, please call Didcot Railway Centre on +44 (0)1235 817200 or by email info@didcotrailwaycentre.org.uk.
