Friendly boutique Hotels in the medieval city centre of Bologna, fabulous Italian cuisine, and unique ‘behind the scenes’ access to the classic Mille Miglia event, have combined Motor Passion director, Steve Furby’s personal passions into a unique and exclusive four-day tour.

Steve, a self confessed foodie and former restaurateur with more than a decade of VIP travel experience, created Motor Passion four years ago to offer personalised hosted tours with a motoring theme for clients within both the corporate and private sectors. Well established as Formula One specialists, Steve has had a long running desire to develop a range of lifestyle tours around classic events and in particular one of his personal favourites, the iconic Mille Miglia.

The Motor Passion Mille Miglia Tour runs from May 6-9. The base for the three nights is Bologna’s beautiful old town with the carefully selected boutique hotel’s just a stroll from the Piazza Maggiore. This stunning architectural setting provides the backdrop for the event’s  first overnight stage.

The tour also includes guided visits to the Ducati Museum and to Maranello, including lunch at the famous Cavallino Rampante restaurant. However a highlight is a trip to the republic of San Marino and the fabulous Collezione Maranello Rosso, the largest private collection of Ferrari and Abarth sports cars in the world.

A special partnership with the management of Maranello Rosso will give privileged access to restricted areas in the old town and close-up viewing of the Mille Miglia competitors as they pass through the medieval streets of this tiny republic. A private tour of the priceless car collection will also give an opportunity to learn more about Enzo Ferrari from some who knew him personally.

'We provide the opposite of a regular packaged tour,' says Steve. 'Our tours are for relatively small numbers say between 20 and 30 people, but it’s important that clients feel that they are being treated as individuals, as opposed to being moved around en-masse.

'For example we always use small executive MPVs for transfers, each of which has a dedicated, expert host to handle any questions or needs. Guest can have their own  private tables at dinners or lunches if required, although we also share social occasions and drinks parties when appropriate, such as our hosted lunch at Maranello Rosso...

'Our Mille Miglia tour is much more than a trip for petrol heads. It is a balance of fabulous cars and culture and of course enjoying the food, wine and ambience of northern Italy.
