The legendary transport cafe, best known for being the haunt of rockers and motorcyclists, adopted a French theme to welcome around 200 owners, collectors and members of the public for a special evening focusing on what the company has dubbed its ‘creative technologie.’ Citroen-loving celebrities such as Fiona Bruce and Alexei Sayle also popped along to lend their support.
Naturally, there were many examples of Citroen’s automotive art proudly on display as well, with over 60 models from all eras of the marque’s history parked outside. With very active participation from clubs, the variety of vehicles was impressive; Traction Avants, 2CVs, Dyanes, DSs, CXs, GSs and XMs were well represented among the masses, with the range stretching through to current types. As the cars came from every decade the Double Chevron has existed, a competition hosted by TV’s Mike Brewer and Octane's John Simister was held to pick the best-presented model from each decade.
Later in the evening, a parade of 100 cars organised by the Citroen Car Club took part on a special cruise around London, simultaneously with several other runs being held in other European capital cities. The UK route took in the capital's motoring and Citroen landmarks.
