The Eifelrennen, held at the mighty Nürburgring, has been run an impressive 67 times during its 80-year history, and never ceases to amaze. It is now called 'the revival' due to the impressive collection of motor sport cars and stars that it attracts.

Around 75 years ago, the ´Ring was also the birthplace of the Silberpfeil Rennwagen legend of Mercedes-Benz, and this anniversary was celebrated with four cars driven by Hans Herrmann and Jochen Mass alongside Octane’s Tony Dron in the W25 with the infernal Roots compressor sound.

The Nordschleife was used for some demo laps of touring cars of the early DTM era: legendary real race machines such as the Mercedes 190 and BMW M3, accompanied by the Ford Capri, Porsche 935 and Porsche 956 of Deutsche Rennsportmeisterschaft.

After some hard fights, Daniel Schrey won the 300km Eifelrennen in the Porsche 911 RSR in front of Wolfgang Pohl's Porsche Carrera RS. At the FIA historic Formula One championship Spaniard Joaquin Folch was beaten by the two Arrows of Rowland Kinch and Steve Hartley in race one after gaining pole position. In the second event he finally made it and won in front of Bobby Verdon-Roe (McLaren) and David Abbots (Arrows).

With 32,000 spectators and unusual sunny weather, it was a great classic weekend – and it will continue on June 18-20 next year.
