The event is expected to be the largest gathering of AC cars in history and will include pre-war sports tourers, drophead coupes and saloons and competition cars as well as many post-war models

The AC Owners Club is 60 years old this year and will be holding a four day event in July to mark its Diamond Jubilee. The celebrations will be centred around the historic Brooklands racetrack in Surrey (England) and will feature the largest gathering of pre and post war AC cars in decades, with club members from Europe and beyond driving to Surrey to celebrate the marque and the Owners’ Club.
 

Tony Michaels, chairman of ACOC, said: “The event is expected to be the largest gathering of AC cars in history and will include pre-war sports tourers, drophead coupes and saloons and competition cars as well as many post-war models including the Ace, Aceca, Greyhound, 3000ME, 7 litre Frua 428 and lots of Cobras from the 1960s through to the 21 century and the Brooklands Ace. I am very much looking forward to the event and to seeing so many of our club members. I’m sure it will be a fantastic weekend.”
 
The ACs will start arriving in Surrey from Thursday (9th July) onwards. A number of social events are planned including a tour of Surrey and Sussex and a BBQ leading up to the main festivities on Saturday (11th) which include driving tests and concours at Brooklands, followed by a tour of the museum and a visit to the AC Heritage facility at the top of Test Hill. The day will finish with a dinner dance and an awards ceremony at a nearby hotel.
 
Sunday morning will see more than 100 cars returning to their riverside birthplace in Thames Ditton, home to AC since 1911. In 1988 the factory moved to purpose built facilities located within the Brooklands racetrack. For 56 years (until 1986) the Hurlock brothers owned AC; Anthony Hurlock, the last of the Hurlock family to have worked at the Thames Ditton factory, will join club members for the weekend and will present the Hurlock Trophy to this year’s winner.
 
AC Cars is one of the oldest car manufacturers in Britain. The first cars were made in 1904 with John Portwine and John Weller building their first Autocarrier tricar delivery vehicles. The company soon became known as AC and its cars have always enjoyed strong motor sport links and successes, most notably in pre-war years under the ownership of SF Edge and in post war years with the Ace and Cobras.
