Bizarrely, the slowest car of the event received the most applause

Glorious sunshine brought out the crowds in their thousands to watch a huge variety of cars and motorcycles being thrashed along the bumpy promenade in this year’s Frosts Brighton National Speed Trials, run by the Brighton and Hove Motor Club.

Bizarrely, the slowest car of the event received the most applause. Henry Brooks’ 615cc Humberette took 50.39 seconds to cover the quarter mile course, crossing the finish line at just 21 mph whereas overall winner, Mike Endean powered his highly modified Ford Puma to a 9.95 second pass at 135mph. 

For the bikers, the Suzuki Hayabusa is clearly the machine to have as they claimed the top five places with winner, Roger Simmons blasting through in 8.89 seconds at 157 mph...
