A Morris Minor with 190 miles on the clock has been sold for £17,000 at an auction in Yorkshire
A Morris Minor 1000 with just 190 miles on the clock has sold for £17,000 at auction. The winning bid exceeded the pre-sale estimate of £7000-£10,000, with a fair amount of interest from Minor enthusiasts around the country.
Bought new in 1968, the car’s first and only owner decided not to drive the Minor, worried about causing damage. The car sat unused, but well loved, in his garage for almost 50 years. With the same 190 delivery miles on the clock, the owner would strip down and rebuild the engine once a year.
Sold by auctioneer CW Harrison, the Minor was sold complete but not running, due to the engine being mid-rebuild when the owner was taken ill. The original Peat Brown paint and red interior looked almost untouched.
A nice piece of history that was sold along with the car included an original bill of sale totaling £656, in July 1968 from Kennings Harrogate Ltd.
