1954-1959 MORRIS Cowley specifications

1954-1959 MORRIS Cowley specifications Classic and Performance Car

A poverty-spec version of the Series II/III Oxford, the first series of Cowleys were sold with a 1200cc B-series engine, from the Austin Somerset. They also used smaller front brakes and came with PVC upholstery instead of leather. Chrome side trim and over-riders were also missing. Series II versions, known as the Cowley 1500, did get the Oxford’s 1489cc engine, but otherwise retained their austerity. Over six times as many Oxfords were built, but the Cowley’s rarity counts for nothing and the few survivors can be picked up very cheaply.
