For 1987, the Plus Four made a return, initially powered by the 1600cc Ford CVH, and then by an optional 1585cc Fiat Twin Cam. Typically, these Fiat-engined cars proved lively to drive and much faster than their Ford-engined counterparts. The ‘Plus Four’ name continued after the end of these 1600cc cars, thanks to the arrival of the 2-litre twin cam Rover M16 engine, which offered 138bhp and a top speed of over 110mph. However, these four-seat Morgans never achieved the popularity of their two-seat counterparts.
