£18500 Following the immediate post war success of the MG TC, Nuffield launched the updated design of the TC in 1949, an immediate success, designed with the export market in mind, the car was the first production MG to be offered in left hand drive, with a new chassis based on the MG YA, rack and pinion steering together with front coil springs and wishbones. The proven pre war design of the 1250 cc XPAG engine was continued, and provided the power unit throughout the T series range until production finished in the mid 1953. Over 75% of the MG TD production was exported. The MG TD2 was introduced in 1952, with a higher compression head, bigger valves and larger carburettors producing 57 BHP. Built in November 1951, and probably first registered in the USA in early 1953, this MG TD2 was imported to Jersey in 1990, and was formerly the property for some years of a noted local MG restorer who sadly passed away recently. We are selling the car on behalf of his widow. The car is a very good example of a late MG TD, having being looked after by its MG specialist owner, it is has been the subject of an old restoration, and has aftermarket accessories such as an alloy rocker cover and pus
This beautifully presented MG TD has come to us from one of our long term customers in Fife, Scotland. Our customer tends to keep a collection of around two or three classics at one time and likes to occasionally change. The TD was purchased in May 2015 and has very light use since. The MG was covered a few hundred faultless miles and during recent ownership has been serviced including brakes.

One of the nicest examples of an original unrestored 65 year old car that will ever find. With barn find cars on the top of astute collectors list, we would call this a “garage find” as it has been carefully maintained, driven regularly and wears older paint with a few chips and scratches. This little car drives better than most restored cars, with a lovely patina seldom seen. The seats and interior trim panels appear to be original as a testament to the care bestowed upon the car by the last owner of 24 years. Too nice to restore, just drive, show and enjoy. In a class by itself for preservation. Just $16,900 $16,900.00
This outstanding MG TD was manufactured in 1952 and was registered new in the United States of America. The MG was shipped to the UK in 1990 having been in Minnesota and in the 25 years since coming to the UK the MG has covered over 18000 miles. The MG spent from 1990 to 2014 in the South West and has most recently been owned by a long term customer of ours in Peacehaven, East Sussex. Not only has the MG had substantial use over the 25 years in the UK, it was also used for an Exeter investment Company marketing campaign, featuring on the front cover of their brochure and featuring in many newspaper advertisements. YSU 197 has come to us in exceptional condition and has been restored to a very high standard. The first restoration we are aware of was back in 1985-1986 over in the U.S. At this point the car was totally stripped down, re-worked as necessary and totally re-painted. We have a report from the early 1990's confirming the MG had covered around 1500 miles since and was in very good order. All components and parts were replaced or overhauled and it was reported there was no rust visible on the car. We have invoices for various remedial works in the early 1990's and annual mil
The MG T series was a basic body-on-frame convertible sports car produced from 1936 through to 1955. It was replaced by the MGA. The 1950 TD combined the TC's drivetrain but with modified hypoid geared rear axle with the MG Y- type chassis and a familiar T-type style body. An independent suspension using coil springs in front was new, based on that fitted to the MG Y-type saloons, as were rack and pinion steering, smaller 15-inch (380 mm) disc type road wheels and a left-hand drive option. Bumpers and over-riders became standard for the first time. The car was also 5 inches (130 mm) wider with a track of 50 inches (1,300 mm). In 1950 the TD MkII was introduced, produced alongside the standard car, with a more highly tuned engine with 8.0:1 compression ratio giving 57 bhp (43 kW) at 5500 rpm. It also featured twin fuel pumps revised dampers and a higher rear axle ratio Nearly 30,000 TDs had been produced, including about 1700 Mk II models , when the series ended in 1953 with all but 1656 exported. 23,488 were exported to the United States. In 1998, the rights, intellectual properties and trade marks associated with the production of MG TD is acquired by TD cars Sdn Bhd in Malaysia t
