A pair of ex-Maria Callas Mercedes 600 limousines will headline this months Succession d'un ami de Maria Callas auction.
Two Mercedes 600 limousines will be the centre of attention at this months Succession d'un ami de Maria Callas auction in Monaco.
The 600s form part of an 11-car consignment from a family friend of the Callas family, with the Mercedes’ once belonging to famous opera singer Maria Callas, who died in 1977.
The 1966 and 1971 600s are estimated to sell between €60,000 and €100,000 when they go up for auction on Monday, July 20, at the Hotel Hermitage, Monaco.
The Mercedes 600 was revealed in 1963, as part of Mercedes-Benz' vow to make luxury cars of the same grain as Bentley and Rolls Royce. A hydraulic pressure system powered the automobile's windows, seats, sunroof, boot lid and doors, on a car that also featured automatically levelling air suspension and 250bhp.
Other cars in Artcurial sale include a rare 1989 Aston Martin Lagonda series 4 (€40,000-€60,000), a yellow 1992 Lamborghini Diablo (€40,000-€80,000) and a Rolls Royce Corniche III (€40,000-€60,000).
