This is perhaps the ultimate undercover performance car. Only the slightly flared arches tell you that it might be more than E-class fodder for a Latvian taxi rank. But lift the bonnet and you find a mighty five-litre V8. Not that it’s a mere shoehorn job, in fact the car was completely re-engineered and even assembled by Porsche. Excited now? Sadly the 500E was only ever sold in left-hand-drive, which combined with a juicy £57,000 price tag means only seven of these M5-baiters were sold in the UK, though others have joined them since.
