1981-1991 MERCEDES-BENZ 380/420/500 SEC (C126) specifications

If the S-class saloon was the best car in the world during the ‘80s then this – built on a four-inch shortened S-class floorpan – must have been the best coupé. The 380 came with 204bhp and steel wheels, with ABS only an optional extra until 1985. The 420 replaced it at the 1986 facelift, when the SE grew fatter bumpers and side skirts, and was good for 218bhp. The range-topper for five years until the 560 arrived, the 500SEC came with 240bhp, electric seats, ABS and a walnut-veneered dash. Fast and comfortable, they offer a lot for your money.
