This beautiful Mercedes-Benz 280 SL was sold new by Phil Smart Mercedes-Benz in Seattle, Washington on 5-11-70. The original exterior color was Light Ivory (670 H) with a Black (040 G) hard top, soft top and hubcaps. The interior was black. Options included Auto Transmission with Floor Shift and Power Steering (Code 426), US Version equipment (Code 491), Outside Rear View Mirror (Left, 503), Becker Radio US Version (515). Stamps in the warranty book and receipts on hand show regular maintenance by the original selling dealer through 1992 when the original owner had his license revoked for failure to pass his driving test. A careful inspection of the records confirms that this 280 SL was never a daily driver and certainly never saw snow or road salt - mileage from 1970 to 1980 was 46,542 (4,654 miles per year average) and mileage from 1980 to 1990 was and additional 46,420 (4,642 miles per year average). In 1992, the original owner lost his license and his beloved Mercedes-Benz sat in the garage for another twenty years until it was sold in 2012 with 92,904 original miles to the second owner. When the car changed hands it was sent out for major mechanical servicing. All fluids, gask
