1969-1972 MERCEDES-BENZ 280SE 3.5/300SEL 3.5 (W108/W109) specifications

For anyone enjoying the puzzle of the 2.8-litre 300SEL, here we have the same S-class bodies fitted with 3.5-litre V8s to bridge the gap between the six-cylinder cars and the crazy 300SEL 6.3. So the best versions of the W108/109 S-class saloons remain something of an enigma. The 300 still has air suspension, so mechanically shy buyers might prefer a 280. There was also a 280SEL 3.5, but that seemed one choice too many and only 951 were built.
