1965-1972 MERCEDES-BENZ 250/280S/SE saloon (W108) specifications

This was the dawn of the S-class, styled in a timeless, if less than exciting manner, by Paul Bracq. Entry level was provided by the 250S with twin Solex carbs and 130bhp, with the Bosch fuel-injected 250SE offering another 20bhp and shaving two seconds off the car’s 0-60mph time. In 1968 the engines were increased to 2.8 litres, still with a carburetted S and fuel injected SE option, and the long wheelbase bodyshell previously only offered on the top-of-the-range 300SEL now comes with the smaller engine as well, badged 280SEL
