1968-1976 MERCEDES-BENZ 250/280CE Coupe (W114) specifications

Only the fuel-injected versions of these pillarless coupés came to the UK market, though carburettor versions were sold elsewhere, without the ‘E’ on the end of their name. They were based on the W114 saloons, retaining their length and wheelbase but with a shortened passenger compartment and a roof that was two inches lower. The 150bhp 250CE gave way to the 280CE in 1972. This latter car came with the 185bhp twin-cam 2.8-litre engine. In some markets, like the US, there was also a version of the 250 with a single-cam 2.8 engine on carbs.
