The famous actor has decided to sell his McLaren F1, following its almost £1million re-build by the McLaren factory
Rowan Atkinson, comedic actor and huge car enthusiast, has decided that its time to sell his McLaren F1, which has recently undergone a full rebuild by McLaren. Atkinson bought the car new in 1997, and was historically not afraid to use it, putting more than 41,000 miles on the iconic supercar's clock.
The F1 suffered a substantial crash in 2011, and was subsequently repaired by the McLaren factory to perfect condition. At the time, the final bill of £910,000 was the most expensive single-car insurance payout in the UK.
Atkinson originally bought the F1 because he adored the car’s design and engineering, but it’s now up for sale because the value has made enjoying it somewhat difficult. It’s offered by London-based dealer Taylor and Crawley, and although no price is quoted – expect to pay somewhere in the £8-10 million region.
