Mercedes-Benz is launching a new luxury-coupe concept in conjunction with sister company Maybach during Monterey car week.
Maybach and Mercedes-Benz will unveil a new 2+2 concept at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’elegance during the Monterey Car week. Built as a tribute to Maybach’s pre-war aero coupes, the striking coupe measures almost 6-metres in length.
The Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 showcases some future technology that we are likely to see embedded in the company's cars in years to come.
Power comes from an 80Kwh battery stowed under the floor. It produces 740bhp powering four electric motors – one at each wheel. Occupants will be wafted to 62mph in a sub-four second time, onto a claimed 155mph top speed.
Projected range for the cosseting coupe is 200 miles. The battery has a quick-charge function rated at 350kW allowing you gain 62 miles per five minutes of charge – provided your charger is up to it. Charging can also be done via slower public charging points and domestic outputs. Wireless charging capability is also present with anticipation of ‘charge while you drive’ on electrified motorways.
Conventional buttons are replaced by touch sensitive ‘body sensor displays’. Passenger’s vitals are monitored so that ambient temperature and seat settings can automatically adjusted to create the most comfortable environment possible.
A curved glass digital strip replaces the traditional dash displaying all the necessary information including navigation. The windscreen has an integrated heads up display reading driving related data.
