Need a reason to get your classic out this weekend? Here are some of the best local and international classic car shows to visit in June 2018 and beyond

As car enthusiasts, we really are spoiled for choice with classic car shows these days. With so many high quality and accessible events available, both locally and further afield, there is a lot of fun to be had with our cars. Whether planning a trip to an old favourite such as the Goodwood Revival, or you're looking to try one of the many new events, you're never short of options.
While it's easy to get swept up in the the buzz surrounding the big events like the Silverstone Classic, some of the smaller events closer to home can also be incredibly satisfying – especially if it gives you an opportunity to take your own weekend car out for a blast. Summer is right around the corner, and some of the greatest classic car events .

Here are some of the best events to look forward to this weekend, and the rest of the month:

Brooklands Double Twelve

16-17 June | Brooklands, UK

Brooklands Double Twelve

A joint production of the VSCC and Brooklands Museum, with speed trials, driving tests and a concours d’elegance.

24 Hours of Le Mans

16-17 June | Le Mans, France

Le Mans

All these years later, Le Mans still represents the ultimate test for endurance racers, and still ranks among the most impressive spectacles in all of motor sport. 


Banbury Run

17 June | Warwickshire, UK 
Pre-1931 motorcycles set out from the British Motor Museum in Gaydon for their annual jaunt around the local lanes.


Paris-Amsterdam Rally

17-23 June | Paris to Amsterdam 

Paris-Amsterdam Rally

Celebrating 120 years since the 1898 Paris-Amsterdam-Paris Race, the world’s first international motor race.


Passione Caracciola

20-24 June | Geneva to St Moritz  

Paris-Amsterdam Rally

Geneva to St Moritz is the plan for this year’s running of the fabulous rally dedicated to racing giant Rudolf Caracciola.


Concours d’Elégance Suisse

22-24 June | Vaud, Switzerland

Held at the beautiful Château de Coppet in Vaud, and this time featuring classes ranging from ‘French Coachwork’ to ‘40 Years of the Paris-Dakar Rally’.


Flywheel at Bicester Heritage

23-24 June | Bicester, Oxfordshire 


Offering lots to see on the ground and in the air, Flywheel returns to Bicester Heritage with displays of classic cars and bikes, flypasts from historic aircraft, plus music and vintage rides. 


Vernasca Silver Flag

29 June – 1 July | Vernasca, Italy

Vernasca Silver Flag

'Vitesse en Bleu' is the theme for this year's event – meaning the keenly anticipated Italian hillclimb will have a distinctly French flavour this time around.


Concours d’Elegance Paleis Het Loo

29 June – 1 July | Apeldoorn, Netherlands

Concours d’Elegance Paleis Het Loo

The biggest classic car event in the Netherlands has a suitably grand venue: the 17th-century palace of Het Loo. To complement all the shine and splendour there's a sprint for pre-war cars.


VHRA Pendine Sands Hot Rod Races

30 June – 1 July | Carmarthen Bay, Wales

Pendine Sands

The Vintage Hot Rod Association heads to that famous strip of sand in Wales to race for as long as the tide will allow. 


The Ellis Journey

30 June – 1 July | Hampshire, England

Ellis Journey

Organised by the De Dion Bouton Club, this is a re-enactment of the first journey made by motor car in the UK – but two- and three-wheeled machines are welcome, too, as long as they were built before 1905. The 43-mile drive from Micheldever Station to Datchet will be preceded this year by a static display on the Saturday. 


Brooklands Motorcycle Show

1 July | Brooklands, UK

Bikes new, old and positively ancient gather at Brooklands for a summer celebration of two-wheeled motoring. Test Hill will be open, as will the museum.


Le Mans Classic

6-8 July | Le Mans, France

Le Mans Classic

Held only every other year, and more than worth the wait. Visitors will see some 600 cars hammering around the mecca of endurance racing, and 8000 more parked up around the track courtesy of marque clubs from France and beyond.


Chateau Impney Hill Climb

7-8 July | Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire, UK

Chateau Impney Hill Climb

The hillclimb up the driveway of this French-style hotel was resurrected in 2015 and will be tackled by more than 200 entrants this around.
