It is important to stress that this car has been restored and developed to a level demanded by and worthy of a multiple World Champion. History. Chassis 78/B4 was campaigned during the entire 1978 Labatt’s Formula Atlantic series by Cliff Hanson. The car is currently in tribute livery to a fine British period Formula Atlantic driver, Phil Dowsett. Most recently the car has been raced to victory by four time Grand Prix Motorcycle World Champion Eddie Lawson. The engine is a legal Jay Ivey BDA with one race on it, the 2014 HMSA race at Laguna Seca, which the car won. The gearbox was subsequently replaced with a completely new Hewland FT-200. The gears and ancillaries from the former gearbox are included with the car. The engine showed 225 bhp on Ivey’s dyno when installed. Further changes to the exhaust and carburettors yielded an additional 12 hp on a rolling road dyno. The tub is a new 2013 Marc Bah

Martin Stretton acquired M17 in 1993 at which point a complete restoration was carried out under the watchful eye of Derek Gardiner. Since this time the car has been maintained and successfully campaigned by Martin Stretton Racing and was re-skinned in 2012. Most recently driven by Lord Drayson, chassis M17 is the sister car to the 2011 HSCC Historic Formula 2 Championship winning March 721 driven by Diogo Ferrao. It is worth noting that in recent years the 1600 BDA injected cars have proven to be the machines to beat for the overall Historic Formula 2 Championship, ease of use and reliability have much to do with this!
