Lotus Eclat (1971-1973) specifications

Lotus Eclat (1971-1973) specifications Classic and Performance Car

The Lotus Eclat was a leaner, and slightly more conventional looking version of the Elite, designed to appeal to the American market

As the US market didn’t take to the Elite's styling, it was joined the following year by the Type 76 Eclat, pretty much the same car but with the rear panels reshaped into a more familiar fastback form, also losing about 45kg in weight in the process. The Oliver Winterbottom-penned and exceptionally wedgy Eclat had more mainstream appeal even if it was less practical than the Esprit, although that could have been as much about the lower list price. Model range numbered 521, 522 and 523, with the higher the number, the higher the equipment level.
