Over the standard Lotus MK6 kit sets available at the time Lotus fitted the 3 factory built competition cars with De Dion rear ends, Elekton drums, FWA 1100 Coventry Climax engines, MGA gear boxes, and the optional alloy Cooper F3 wheels (with integral front brakes). In the early 60's there is record of this car having the FWA 1100 Coventry Climax replaced with a more conventional MG Magnette 1500. The car was then used for completion in this configuration for many years before it became retired to Japan. During its retirement the car briefly made an appearance in the film Fast lady . With only a handful of these cars ever being factory built, and only 3 documented in the De Dion configuration, its makes for a great historical competition investment piece, or another car to your established collection. Variant name:SE TURBO ,Variant: SE TURBO For the Lotus Esprit SE Turbo the K-Jetronic system was replaced with a Lotus/Delco multi-point fuel injection (MPFI) system. The engine also received an air-water-air intercooler called a Chargecooler by Lotus. This revised engine was known as the Type 910S. Power was up to 197 kW (268 PS; 264 hp) with 209 kW (284 PS; 280 hp) available on overboost. 0-60 mph times dropped to 4.7 seconds and top speed was over 160 mph (260 km/h). The 910S engine went into the new Special Equipment (SE) model, which also received changes to the body, with side skirts parallel to the body, five air ducts in the front air dam, and the addition of a rear wing. The Lotus Esprit can be regarded as a British classic, its design has remained synonymous with Lotus since the car was announced at the Paris Motor Show in 1975. The Esprit entered production in 1976 and after several variants over its 28 year production run, Lotus ceased production in 2004 – quite the life span! The design is peculiar one, but one I’m sure you’ll agree is visually very pleasing. The inspiration behind the original design of the S1 (Series 1) was the brainchild of Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, with his ideas being based upon the aspects and angles of folded paper. This particular car has received a complete rebuild which was carried out between 2008 and 2010. The car has been painted in Monaco white with the iconic Tartan interior, this was done in an attempt to replicate the Lotus Esprit in the James Bond film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ The rebuild really did leave no stone unturned with several experts supposedly believing that this is one of the best examples of an S1 Esprit. In total the restoration was valued at circa £60,000, photographs and restoration receipts are present. Viewing welcome and highly recommended.

A two-seater convertible sports car, designed in-house by Lotus, it featured an engine and manual transmission supplied by Isuzu, and was built with the development and testing resources of General Motors. Around £35 million was invested in its development, more than any other car in Lotus history. Its design, featuring a fibreglass composite body over a rigid steel backbone chassis, was true to Lotus founder Colin Chapman's original philosophy of achieving performance through low weight, and the name "Elan" connected the car with its 1960s ancestor.
