1969 Lotus Elan S4 Roadster s/n L69459515 Norfolk Mustard with Black Leather The Lotus Elan first appeared in October 1962 at the British International Motor Show at Earls Court. Jaguar had launched the E-Type the previous year, AC was offering the Cobra, and Ferrari the GTO. Against these big, powerful, and expensive machines, the lightweight and nimble Elan offered something very different, and typically Lotus: ultra modern, simplistic in design, and tremendous fun. Lotus packed the Elan with innovative technical features including a fiberglass body draped over the first backbone chassis of any road car and four-wheel independent suspension. Lotus would later revolutionize racing with their monocoque 25, further enhancing Lotus’ racing lineage. The 1500 lbs (670kg) Elan powered by the new Lotus Twin Cam engine delivered over 100 horsepower, providing endless entertainment for drivers of this featherweight roadster. The new Elan offered a clean body design with balanced proportions, hideaway headlights, and a beguilingly low profile. Customers swarmed for the reasonably priced Elan, proving to be a welcome replacement to the fragile, expensive-to-build Elite, becoming Lotus’s bigg

The Ferrari F355 was built from May 1994 to 1999 and was an evolution of the Ferrari 348. It is a mid-engined, rear wheel drive, V8-powered two-seat coupé. At launch, two models were available; the coupé Berlinetta and the Targa topped GTS. The Spider (convertible) version was introduced in 1995. One major difference between the longitudinal V8 in the 348 and that in the 355, apart from the displacement increase from 3.4 to 3.5 litres, is that the F355 features a five valve per cylinder head that is considerably more powerful, producing 375bhp. The nomenclature does not follow the formula from the previous decades, i.e. engine capacity plus cylinder number for example, the Ferrari 308 name comes from three litres plus eight cylinders, with the same for the 328, 348, 512 etc. This time, Ferrari used engine capacity plus number of valves per cylinder; proud to boast about this technological advancement, with the name 355 coming from 3.5 litres engine capacity and five valves per cylinder. The F355 has become the most popular model so far with over 11,273 cars produced. From a driver's perspective, the Berlinetta will always prove the more popular, the chassis possesses more rigidity
Built specifically for the Ministry of Defence, it is understood that only approximately 8,000 Defender Wolf's were made and a large number of those would have been hard tops and/or the 110 variety or lefthand drive. This righthand drive soft top or full tilt example is particularly rare. Sources suggest the upgrades to the standard defender put the Wolf price to the MoD at around £40,000 in 1997-1998. Upgrades included a 2" ride height increase due to heavy duty suspension design whilst the chassis on this Heavy Duty is said to be eight times stronger than standard and fitted with a heavy duty roll cage, prop-shaft protection between chassis and hub and heavy duty bumpers. The vehicle also features sealed headlights with breather pipes to top of windscreen, 113bhp, 300TDi engine with no electronics except fuel pump solenoid, rust proofed chassis from new, gearbox cooling system, reinforced front bulkhead, rails and sills, reinforced Salisbury rear axle and standard reinforced front axle and uprated diffs, 80 litre reinforced fuel tank, very tough and heavy duty Wolf wheels, convoy light system with a light illuminating the white painted rear differential, NATO towing hitch, 24v el
The Ferrari 550 Maranello is a two-seat grand tourer manufactured from 1996 and is powered by a front-engined V12. It shared its platform and 5,474cc engine with the 456 but was positioned as the company's high-end model. It featured a luxurious and spacious interior and, unusually for a Ferrari, the boot could accommodate a set of golf clubs. The 550 has a tubular steel frame chassis with light aluminium bodywork. Power steering is variable assist and, to be expected of a car with this performance, disc brakes are fitted all round. Acceleration is an impressive 4.2 seconds 0 to 60mph and top speed a reported 199mph. In total, 3,083 Ferrari 550's were produced. This lovely example, finished in Tour de France blue, has covered a mere 29,000 miles and benefitted from a £2,000 service with Ferrari specialists Autofficina in September 2016. Described as in stunning condition, this example was originally imported to Japan by Cornes who continued to service the car; the original Ferrari manual and tools are present as is the service booklet. The coachwork is in very good order as is the contrasting tan leather interior and we are pleased to advise this 550 Maranello drives with no known
The Fiat type 176 Barchetta was Fiat's re-entry to the convertible or spider car market and a challenge to the popular Mazda MX5 from Japan. With distinctive styling that can be traced back to the 1949 Ferrari 166MM, production began at the Maggiora plant close to Turin in 1995 and, due to the lack of a spray shop, were painted at Bertone's plant and then returned for final assembly. Built on the Fiat Punto floor pan and fitted with the 1,747cc twin over-head cam engine with Fiat's variable valve timing, these engines are very reliable as well as lively and responsive. With a firm chassis and very good panel fit, these hand assembled sports cars are great fun to drive and have what must be the easiest and quickest hood to put up or down. Production ceased at the Maggiora factory in 2002 and production was moved to Fiats Mirafiori plant, where a face lift model or phase II was built until 2005. In 2008, this stunning Rosso red Barchetta was involved in an accident to the front wing and although repairable, it was classified as Category C. The owner decided to purchase the car from the insurance company and it was converted to righthand drive with a 2.0 Twin Spark, Alfa Romeo engine
