FOR SALE An impeccable Lotus Elise S1 with one owner, full history and just 4,757 miles! EQUIPMENT Composite body panels with detachable front and rear clamshells, extruded anodised aluminium epoxy-bonded spaceframe chassis, integral roll over hoop, STACK electronic speedo and tacho with multifunction LCD, 12v socket, interior lamp switch, tell-tale warning lamps, odometer, trip recorder, instrument brightness control. Factory options: Metallic paint, passenger footrest, leather trim seats, radio fitting kit, Thatcham One approved Cobra alarm/immobiliser, driving lamps, car boot tidy. EXTERIOR Finished in striking and optional Azure Metallic, (Code B20), this exceptional and clearly pampered example looks truly magnificent. Strictly garaged by the one and only owner from new and dry use only for just 4,757 miles, this quickly becomes apparent when even the fragile underside green jacking stickers are still attached! The bright green epoxy resin used to bond the aluminium at factory is still bright and the V.I.N. stamped in the chassis to the offside rear wheel arch area is clearly visible. The factory fitted windscreen is beginning to whiten at the lower corners and one headlight cluster has slight lifting to the inner bowl, cosmetic observations only. Wheel arch apertures and the flat underside to aid aerodynamics are very clean. The Black material hood and simple roof apparatus is perfect and the hex key removal tool is correctly housed behind the driver’s seat. An impeccably preserved Lotus Elise Series 1. INTERIOR Engineering excellence is built into the interior with the aim to save weight and provide ultimate driver focused enjoyment. The optional Tan Leather sports seats are in pristine condition and the unique Lotus/Nardi steering wheel is unmarked with natural surface veins clearly defined. The standard dash proudly displays the ‘Elise’ logo and the crystal-clear STACK instrumentation functions correctly providing at-a-glance information. The wide sills are protected by a leather/cloth pad with some minor markings visible, easily made with even the first entry/exit into the car! The doors remain open thanks to undamaged door retaining plates and the windows wind up and down smoothly. An interior Colin Chapman would be proud of. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION Entirely standard and despite the low mileage the car has benefited from regular Lotus main dealer and specialist servicing, with 12 stamped entries in the service book the most recent by main dealer, Leven Lotus of Edinburgh, in June 2018 at 4,714 miles. The four cylinder in line 16 valve engine with aluminium engine block and cylinder head displaces 1796cc to produce 118bhp at 5500rpm and 165Nm torque at 3000rpm. Lightweight construction, rear wheel drive and mid-mounted engine, this ticks the core race car credentials and the driving experience is a must for any petrolhead. The clean engine bay and front compartment display a fully intact heat insulation panel, factory identification sticker, PDI markings and labels. The 5-speed close ratio gearbox with short throw is precise and direct. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Unique to Lotus are the 5 twin spoke light alloy wheels which are unmarked except for a light chip to one rear wheel. The Lotus centre badges are pristine and those with a keen eye for originality will note the collector pleasing factory fitted Pirelli PZero tyres still showing excellent tread. Cast iron 282mm ventilated discs with unique Lotus/AP Racing opposed piston front calipers stop the car safely and quickly. HISTORY FILE A car with an interesting and heart-warming history! The first and only owner, Mr Pier Sinforiani, paid the impressive sum of £0.00 for the car having won first prize in a Daily Record newspaper competition in 1998. Supplied direct from Lotus Cars Ltd Service Department, the car was registered new on 3rd March 1998 and the original vehicle checklist and despatch record and somewhat irrelevant (in this instance) price list is held in the history file! Mr Sinforiani’s amazing fortunate luck came at a wonderful moment just as he retired, ready for him to enjoy the car socially in dry conditions only. The car was strictly garaged at all times and now well into his 80’s, the decision to part with his prized Lotus has been carefully decided. Despite the very low mileage of just 4,757 miles, there are 12 stamped entries in the service booklet with the most recent by main dealer, Leven Lotus of Edinburgh, in June 2018 at 4,714 miles. The corresponding Leven Lotus service is held in the history file along with previous MOT certificates and other invoices. A documented and stamped timing belt change has been carried out at 4,514 miles and is within time. The Elise document wallet holds all handbooks, factory alarm installation certificate and point of sale literature as well as the important factory build sticker and an unused tax disc holder. Completing the history file is an original sales brochure and both keys supplied with the car when new. One owner and exceptionally low mileage, this Elise is for the demanding connoisseur seeking one of Hethel’s finest, both in condition and credentials. MOT August 2019, HPI Clear. • Lotus Esprit S1

    £99,990 £99,990

The Lotus Esprit can be regarded as a British classic, its design has remained synonymous with Lotus since the car was announced at the Paris Motor Show in 1975. The Esprit entered production in 1976 and after several variants over its 28 year production run, Lotus ceased production in 2004 – quite the life span! The design is peculiar one, but one I’m sure you’ll agree is visually very pleasing. The inspiration behind the original design of the S1 (Series 1) was the brainchild of Italian car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro, with his ideas being based upon the aspects and angles of folded paper. This particular car has received a complete rebuild which was carried out between 2008 and 2010. The car has been painted in Monaco white with the iconic Tartan interior, this was done in an attempt to replicate the Lotus Esprit in the James Bond film ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’ The rebuild really did leave no stone unturned with several experts supposedly believing that this is one of the best examples of an S1 Esprit. In total the restoration was valued at circa £60,000, photographs and restoration receipts are present. Viewing welcome and highly recommended.

  • Lotus Europa Special

    £35,000 £35,000

This beautifully restored Lotus Europa John Player Special is available for a negotiated sale around £35,000 which is in the middle of our estimated sale price. See TradeClassics.com for a full write-up and over 300 images and videos. EXTERIOR This Europa is in stunning condition from the mirror like paint to the visually correct panel gaps. All as a result of a fastidious four year restoration from 2010 to 2014 – please take a look at the history file to see the extent of the time and money spent. Wheels & Tyres Beautiful and original 13in wheels are fitted, they are in excellent condition and wrapped in 2015 Falken tyres. Bodywork The restoration on this car is exceptional that was actioned over a four year period from 2010 to 2014. The care and attention to detail really shows on this car with excellent panel gaps and door and engine lid shuttings. The only small issue noticed on the bodywork is a very small crease on the OSF wing as you can see in the video. Paint Again the paint finish on this car is excellent and shows a lovely deep gloss shine that is consistent across all the panels. In terms of any issues there are just a couple of very small ones to note: a small stone chip on the OSF wing as shown in the video that can be easily remedied, and also some micro blemishes that can be noticed on the roof when you look down the light reflection. Glass and Trim Glass and trim across the car is exceptional. With the car being fully restored, the brightwork was also covered in this no expense spared project. INTERIOR The interior is beautiful and looks to be all original – there really isn’t anything that needs sorting. Seats and Carpets Finished in a period beige colour it’s a perfect contrast to the exterior base black. The leather seats are in excellent condition with very little signs of wear and the same too is true of the carpets. Dashboard The wood on the dash looks very smart, and the dials are in excellent condition and all working correctly, as can be seen in the ‘on the road’ video. Steering Wheel / Gear Stick The original steering wheel is fitted and in excellent condition. The gear knob was replaced as part of the restoration and in excellent condition too. MECHANICS We took the car out on our regular ‘on the road’ run and it performed without a problem. Please review the video footage to see the cold start and how the car performed on a run with Kulraj interviewing Rob during the drive. Engine and Gearbox There are no issues with the engine or gearbox. The engine, gearbox and clutch all perform perfectly during our short on the road test. Please take a look at the media pack to see invoices for all servicing work actioned on the engine. Suspension and Brakes The car has no knocks or rattles coming from the suspension as all the components were restored during 2010-14. As mentioned, the car has always had the best care in the last two years of Mark’s ownership, and you’ll see receipts for all work carried out. The Drive The drive was without fault and all gears being selected without issue. Electrics and Other We checked all the main electrics and they performed without fault. A battery conditioner is fitted when the vehicle is not in use.

  • Lotus Elan

    £34,995 £34,995

This lovely original Lotus Elan Sprint is available for a negotiated sale for a price of around £34,995 which is in the middle of our estimate range. Visit TradeClassics.com to see the full details of the car including videos of it running and over 300 images. EXTERIOR This is a genuine and honest Sprint that shows its history in the patina it’s picked up along the way. When I say ‘patina’ that’s exactly what I mean – it’s wear that you can’t replicate and totally suits this car. This is a driving machine, not a garage queen. Wheels & Tyres Original factory ‘knock off’ steel wheels are fitted that are in good condition with just some marks to the paint, as shown in the media pack. Michelin radial tyres are fitted and stamped 2014 with good level of tread. Bodywork Being fibreglass there is of course no rust, instead it’s stress cracks that needs to be identified. The good news is there are no significant stress marks visible on the outer panels of the car. There are a few chips on the leading edges on some of the panels, i.e. engine lid, doors and sills. The panel gaps are as expected with a nearly 50 year old fibreglass car. Paint It’s uncertain if the car has been repainted during its life. It could well be original paint, as we didn’t notice any telltale signs of spray, and there are no invoices for any spray work that we can see in the history file. You’ll see slight swirl marks in the paint in the images and videos, so the car would benefit from a light machine polish to remove these marks. Glass and Trim The glass is in excellent condition and no stone chips were found on the front screen. The chrome is also in good condition and reflects the age of the car, i.e. there is some evidence of light pitting on various bits of chrome, e.g. the filler cap. INTERIOR Lotus really did a great job on this car, and that’s why it’s so well regarded and listed in many publications as one of the all time great cars. Of course part of the attraction is the way it makes you feel when you sit in it. Ergonomically this is spot on and you instantly know you’re sitting in a ‘proper’ sports car. Seats and Carpets The black vinyl seats are in good condition – there is very little wear on the driver’s seat squab and bolster. The black carpets are also in good condition. Dashboard The dashboard and gauges are all good condition and look original to the car. There is a period correct Radiomobile fitted and may be original to the car, but we are not 100% sure. Steering Wheel / Gear Stick The car has its original steering wheel and gear stick and both are in good condition. The steering wheel is signed Colin Chapman. MECHANICS We took the car out on our regular ‘on the road’ run and it performed without a problem, along with starting on the button. Please review the video footage to see the cold start and how the car performed on a run with Kulraj interviewing Rob during the drive. Engine and Gearbox There are no issues with the engine or gearbox. The engine, gearbox and clutch all perform perfectly during our short on the road test. Suspension and Brakes The car has no knocks or rattles coming from the suspension. As mentioned, the car has always had the best care in the last two years of Mark’s ownership, and you’ll see receipts for all work carried out. The Drive The drive was without fault. Electrics and Other We checked all the main electrics and they performed without fault – you can see the electric windows working in the videos. A battery conditioner is fitted when the vehicle is not in use to maintain the levels of the battery.

Variant name:SE ,Derivative:S5 ,Variant: SE Turbo The Lotus M100 Elan was launched in August 1989, reviving the Elan nameplate after 14 years. A two-seater convertible sports car, designed in-house by Lotus, it featured an engine and manual transmission supplied by Isuzu, and was built with the development and testing resources of General Motors. Around £35 million was invested in its development, more than any other car in Lotus history. Its design, featuring a fibreglass composite body over a rigid steel backbone chassis, was true to Lotus founder Colin Chapman's original philosophy of achieving performance through low weight, and the name "Elan" connected the car with its 1960s ancestor. This Elan SE Turbo is finished in Red with half grey leather was first registered to Lotus Cars, and has only done 52000 miles with a very impressive service file, with Castle Lotus having maintained it for its last owner. The bright orange epoxy resin used to bond the aluminium at factory is still bright and the V.I.N. stamped in the chassis to the right hand rear wheel arch area is clearly visible. Tiny touch up marks to minor stone chips reveal the efforts used to uphold originality and do not detract from the amazing appearance. The optional Black material hood is perfect. Iconic, very special and cherished. The doors remain open thanks to undamaged door retaining plates and the windows wind up and down smoothly. An interior Colin Chapman would be proud of. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The original owner was a true Lotus fanatic part exchanging his standard 1996 Lotus Elise for this 1998 111S model due to the extra power of the K16 1.8 VVC engine. In 2005 works were carried out by Minister Racing Engines to the sum of £6,412 with an invoice to confirm. With a performance head to 170 Spec and reassurance of a head gasket upgrade along with other proven enhancements this example comfortably outperforms the standard performance figures of 0-60mph in 5.38 seconds and a top speed of 133mph. A glorious exhaust bark and a red plenum and cam cover give a clue to the fun ahead. The supplying Lotus Main Dealer continued to annually service the car and it was subsequently sold by Lotus Main Dealers Westover Sports Cars in December 2014 as an Approved Lotus with their warranty proving and reassuring all workmanship carried out. The close ratio 5-speed gearbox as fitted to the 111S is a delight. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Unique Lotus-designed 6-spoke light alloy wheels manufactured by OZ and fitted as standard on the 111S are unmarked except for a light mark to one rear wheel. The Lotus centre badges are pristine and the original red Koni monotube dampers combined with Yokhama Advan tyres provide phenomenal grip. Cast iron cross drilled ventilated discs with unique Lotus/AP Racing opposed piston front calipers stop the car safely and quickly. HISTORY FILE When the original Lotus Elise was launched in 1996 to rapturous acclaim pundits cried out for more power and the Lotus Elise 111S was launched on the 8th March 1999 and continued until August 2000 just before the Series 2 was announced. This example was supplied new by UK Main Dealers, JCT600 in Leeds, to Mr Sutcliffe on the 19th October 1999. The new car invoice included in the comprehensive history file reveals a purchase price of £27,953.75. Mr Sutcliffe, a devoted Lotus fanatic, swapped in his standard 1998 Lotus Elise in Norfolk Yellow and remained the custodian of this car until January 2015. During his ownership the vehicle was serviced by the supplying Dealer no less than 10 times with invoices and a stamped service book to prove despite having covered only 11,861 miles. Again during his careful ownership in October 2005 works to the sum of £6,412 were carried out to improve the performance and longevity of the engine which is fully documented in the history file. Supplied to the only other owner, Mr Crew as an Approved Lotus through Westover Sports Cars, this meticulously maintained example has been serviced a further four times by them with the last entry being in December 2017 at 13,404 miles. The service history is stamped across two service books. The vehicle has now covered a warranted 13,504 miles. Supplied with all handbooks, spare keys and brochures, this Elise is for the demanding connoisseur seeking one of Hethel’s finest. MOT January 2019 and HPI Clear.
