Land Rover Series 2a 88" Soft Top Nut & Bolt Restoration We are delighted to offer this lovely example of a Series 2a. The vehicle was subject to a full nut and bolt restoration over a 20 month period. The vehicle has been rebuilt to original specification and a vast majority of original parts were reused and new old stock parts where sourced where required. The vehicle was first registered for road use 22nd January 1970. This vehicle is now both tax and mot exempt. The vehicle is in a lovely colour combination Mid Grey with limestone wheels which is correct for this year with a new Sand canvas. The vehicle benefits from a fairey overdrive which makes the vehicle a joy to drive on dual carriageways. The vehicle is in immaculate condition and drives very well. The vehicle has always been dry stored and has travelled very few dry miles since the restoration was completed. The bodywork on this example is immaculate and all the panels are straight with no dents or scraps. The interior has benefited from new black vinyl seats, there is also matching rear bench seats. The dash is unmarked and benefits from a period correct smiths heater. All windows open, all the window channels are good since the vehicle has had a fully restoration. The load area is exceptionally clean and doesn't show any sights of heavy use and is presented with a rubber mat. The vehicle has one of the best engine bays we have seen on a Series 2a, extremely clean. The block has also been refurbished and repainted in the correct Duck Egg Blue. The factory fitted engine busts into life at the turn of the key. It is apparent that this is a vehicle that has been maintained and covered low mileage it runs as quiet and smooth as any Series Land Rover that we have ever had. A joy to drive and such fun, the vehicle will have a full 12-month MOT from the day of sale. Four wheel drive and low range engage, as they should. The gears change up and down as they should it has a very quiet gearbox which is a good sign of it's light use over the years. This vehicle will be supplied fully serviced including engine, filter, main gearbox, transfer box, overdrive, diffs and swivels. The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road like some series vehicles do. All the tyres have been replaced and are brand new. The gearbox has been rebuilt. The vehicle has benefited from a new galvanised Richards chassis, so the vehicle is as clean underneath as on top any inspection is welcome. The chassis as then been painted satin black and so it retains the authentic look as it would have left the factory. Almost all Series Land Rovers we have had drip a little oil, some quite a lot, TOL 791H is the exception though no drips of oil to speak of even after standing for days in the same place. The steering is as it should be and the vehicle doesn't wonder on the road like some series vehicles do. SUMMARY On offer is an unmolested and well-restored Series 2a Softop in immaculate restored condition. All the numbers match - the chassis numbers on the plates are the same as on the log book registration document. This Land Rover has obviously been cared for and cherished by its previous owners and thousands of pounds were spent on it during it's restoration. The rebuild took approximately 1300 hours. It is very solid example and is ready to use and enjoy. This is a fantastic example of a 48-year-old Series Land Rover. You will have to go a long way to find a better vehicle. Anything on this Land Rover that required attention has been done it is now faultless.

HISTORY FILE This Land Rover Series 2a was registered new on the 6th September 1967 to Mr Peter Ernest Roalfe and a record of all owners since is documented in the history file. The current custodian, Ryan Dickinson, has embarked on a better-than-new restoration in a quest to reminisce fond childhood memories when he and his father would enjoy trips out in their new Land Rover. Purchasing a useable example which initially appeared to require only a minor recommission the full scale of the works necessary to meet Ryan’s exacting standards soon became apparent. Photos of the vehicle on initial purchase are included in the history file. The huge history file reveals the extent of the expenditure with all receipts neatly filed and providing the next owner with reassuring confirmation of the investment this example has enjoyed. A stark lesson of how much money is necessary to create such a beautiful example. Featured in Classic Land Rover magazine issue 56 Jan 2018, knowledgeable contributor Emrys Kirby, remarks ‘I knew the vehicle would be good because just about everything was new and clearly fitted with an obsessive eye detail’. Ryan has made the very difficult decision to sell the vehicle for personal reasons and a contribution of the sale proceeds are going to the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice to assist people aged 16 and over who are living with conditions like cancer, heart failure and lung disease. A truly amazing vehicle built with an unrivalled dedication to be one of the best. MOT March 2019, HPI Clear.
