Lamborghini’s former test driver will launch a new titanium exhaust system for the Aventador SV at this year’s Concorso Italiano
As the company's chief test driver for more than 40 years, Valentino Balboni lives and breathes Lamborghini. Although he remained close to the company following his retirement in 2009, the Italian has decided to put his expertise and name into his own line of exotic aftermarket exhausts for Lamborghinis.
Balboni’s new company, ‘VB’ will be launched at the 2016 Concorso Italiano on 20 August – during the Monterey Car Week. The first exhaust to come from VB will be specifically designed to fit the Lamborghini Aventador LP-750 SV, and is said to offer ‘a new dimension in sound’.
Images of the exhaust have been revealed, as well as some of the specifics. In total, the new system weighs in at just 6.3kg, including the billet cut titanium mounts, and is completely hand made from grade 2 titanium. TIG welded by hand, the system is said to take a serious 350 hours to produce.
Other than the fact production will be limited to 30 units, and that it will bolt to the car using standard mounting points, few details are known. Price is likely to be serious, and we’ll likely find out more about any future plans for Balboni’s VB company following the launch at Concorso Italiano.
