The Lamborghini 400 GT, not to be confused with the later 400 GT 2+2, is a very rare car. It became available in 1965 as an option, and was basically a 350 GT with a much larger 4 litre engine in combination with the brand new Lamborghini 5-speed gearbox. The body was identical to the 350 GT, except from the twin headlights configuration. Following different sources Lamborghini only built between 23 and 27 examples, which makes it one of the most exclusive Lamborghini's ever made. It is also one of the most interesting, as it combines the gorgeous looks of the 350 GT with the technical set-up of the more powerful 400 GT 2+2.
The example we are offering for sale left the S. Agata Bolognese factory on the 11th of November 1966, and was delivered to its first owner, a certain mr. Bob Estes, in Los Angeles. The car came to Europe in 1990 and was then sold at auction in Paris with a mileage of only 58.625 miles At that time, it was still wearing its original paint of Rosso Alfa, but the Senape leather was painted black. In the same year, it received a French registration with Paris suffix. The actual owner bought the 400 GT in 1997, and commissioned Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera (the
