  • Lotus Carlton

    For sale
    £49,995

FOR SALE An original and iconic Lotus Omega / Carlton with 39,558 miles. MODEL HISTORY Produced at the Lotus factory at Hethel, only a few people will be fortunate enough to drive a Lotus Type 104, also known as the Lotus Omega / Carlton. The team at Lotus Engineering took a production car, built a new engine, added suspension modifications, fitted more powerful brakes and modified the bodyshell to accommodate the repositioned engine, gearbox and wider, larger wheels and tyres. General Motors hoped to build 1,100 cars in total, but due to the recession of the early 1990s, the £48,000 price tag and adverse publicity surrounding the cars 176mph top speed for a family car, just 950 were completed. Of the 950, 666 are LHD Omegas and 284 are RHD Carltons. Once the fastest production saloon car in the world, number 593 is a very rare original survivor. EQUIPMENT Long-range halogen driving lights, green tinted glass, central locking, automatic suspension levelling, speed-sensitive power steering, heated seats, height and lumber adjustable seats, split folding rear seats, air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, electric sunroof, front and rear electric windows, multi-function check control warning panel, cassette holder, Phillips SC804 stereo. EXTERIOR The integrated aero package serves a vital purpose in the handling of this awesome machine and helps to distinguish it as an all-time classic hero. Finished in striking Imperial Green 2-coat pearlescent paint, (Code E355), it looks tremendous. The colour, which is unique to the Lotus, comes alive in bright light and minor stone chips to the bonnet and wheel arch extensions do not detract from the overall stunning deep gloss shine. The correct tinted glass and Cibie headlights remain fitted and a small ding to the bonnet and front tow cover are barely visible. The slots in the bonnet to feed the turbocharged engine remind admirers how special this car is. INTERIOR Absolutely preserved, the Anthracite Connally leather looks incredible combined with the fluted grey alcantara door cards and polished wood. Correct features such as the Lotus badged rev counter, Lotus padded leather rimmed steering wheel and unique glove box Limited Edition plaque 0593 are present. Perfectionists will note the factory set of driving mats made from the same material as the carpet with dark grey piping are in situ and a discreet racimex boost indictor has been neatly installed. Four Lotus Omega door sill covers remain correctly fitted and the headlining is perfectly clean and tight. Very special. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The 3.6 litre 24v inline DOHC engine with a brace of Garratt T25 turbochargers and twin watercooled inlet charge coolers unleashes 377bhp at 5,500rpm and 568Nm torque at 4,200rpm. The power delivery is phenomenal with an unlimited top speed of 176mph and 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds. A recent full service has just been carried out by Specialists Harvey Gibbs. The six-speed manual ZF transmission has a long-throw and offers reassuring solidity. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Unique to the Lotus Omega and Carlton are the stunning Ronal one piece 8.5Jx17 front and 9.5Jx17 rear alloy wheels. Minor marks are barely visible and are shod in Yokohama 235/45 ZR17 front and 265/40 ZR rear tyres with ample tread. The correct metal tyre valves are fitted along with the factory spare. 330mm diameter ventilated front discs with AP Racing 4 pot calipers and 300mm diameter ventilated rear discs with AP Racing 2 pot calipers perform impeccably and are standard fitment. HISTORY FILE One of just 415 Lotus Omegas supplied to the German market when new, this example was manufactured on the 19th December 1991 as confirmed by the Lotus Certificate of Vehicle Provenance. Supplied by Adam Opel A.G. in Rüsselsheim to Mr Joerg Tuerkismue and according to the Fahrzeugbrief, (German Registration Document), this example has had just three keepers. The Lotus Omega Inspection Booklet records the servicing over the years helping to confirm the 63,663kms, (39,558 miles). An amazing collection of literature makes fascinating reading from the market launch material to the GM Continental Public Affairs negative photo slides! Offered for sale by Classic Park in Boxtel (NL) who house a fabulous museum, our current UK owner was thrilled to acquire this original unmolested example after viewing many substandard cars and is now only available due to a new business venture. All handbooks are contained within the unique Lotus Omega green leather folder. An amazing opportunity to own a piece of motoring history. MOT November 2018, HPI Clear. This pampered example even boasts a super clean engine bay with factory plates and stickers as well as genuine Land Rover service items clearly visible. Impressive capabilities to include minimum under axle clearance of 215mm and normal wading depth of 500mm show why Land Rover set the standard for 4x4 manufacturers worldwide. A tough manual gearbox with high/low transfer giving 8 forward and 2 reverse gears is light with an accurate progressive clutch. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Factory original and XS specific ‘Sculptured’ alloy wheels are immaculate and unmarked. Expensive branded Hankook 235/70 R16 tyres grace all four corners with masses of tread. Power assisted dual circuit hydraulic disc brakes on all four wheels bring this machine to an assured halt easily. HISTORY FILE Supplied new on the 6th February 1998 by Land Rover Main Dealer, Lode Lane of Solihull, this example was registered to the dealer themselves as a demonstrator. The first private keeper, Mr Mick Richardson, purchased the car through the Land Rover Approved Used Vehicle Scheme with Stonelake Land Rover of Wakefield and kept the car until 2014, where after the second private keeper, Mr Matthew Prescott, has owned it since. The incredibly low 46,490 miles covered is fully verified with absolutely every MOT certificate kept in the history file from the first in 2001 to present. The original immaculate leather document wallet contains the service book with factory build sticker and 11 stamped entries, the last being November 2017. All handbooks, guides and dealership literature are also present. Completing the history file is a collection of invoices and three keys with both remote fobs. Now firmly established as a modern classic off roader, preserved examples are fast becoming highly sought after, and a fabulous addition/alternative to a defender. Finished in original Ford Diamond White, (Code B3), the paint is preserved and boasts a bright shine and polished uniform finish. All factory panels are pin straight with linear gaps and even close scrutiny will struggle to discover anything other than miniscule markings. All exterior trim including the commonly misshapen front splitter is perfect and features such as Anthracite fog lamps surrounds denote an early 2WD example. The glass displays the original number and dots dated Securit etchings, and the original Carello headlamps remain fitted with other lenses showing Ford logo and ‘England’ lettering. Supplying dealer number plates, rear screen sticker and tax disc holder have been retained. Without question one of the best unrestored examples in existence. INTERIOR The factory standard interior of this truly special example is trimmed in the original Halley and Angora grey velour, (Code L). This trim arrangement being another denotation of the early 2WD production Sapphire Cosworths prior to the introduction of Shadow Halley/Raven velour and optional Raven Leather in February 1989. The supportive Recaro front seats are flawless with firm bolsters and tight coverings, commensurate with the very low mileage. A tiny amount of shrinkage to the driver’s door card can only just be seen. The instantly familiar driver inclined dashboard is perfect and completely free from any cracks, and the three spoke leather trimmed sports steering wheel and leather gear knob show natural veins. All functions and controls operate including the standard Sound ECU2 stereo system with power amplifier. A fantastic RS interior, the ultimate combination of sporting prowess and spacious executive luxury. The engine bay will fascinate originality seekers with factory panel stampings on the inner wings, front slam panel and bonnet underside. All stickers and plates remain intact including the service stickers on the intercooler, long since lost on most examples. The tough T5 manual transmission with 7.5 limited slip differential is direct and precise, just as you would expect from the low mileage covered. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The factory fitted and unrestored 15 X 7 RS Sierra Cosworth ‘Lattice Style’ alloy wheels are remarkable with only minimal markings and one scratch to the offside front rim edge. The part numbers and raised stampings are prominent and show clear definition, a feature lost upon the usual refurbished items. Quality Dunlop SP Sport 205/50 R15 tyres with excellent tread are fitted all round, and the spare wheel is shod in the original unused Dunlop SP Sport D40 fitment. Diagonally split hydraulic brakes featuring anti-lock assistance and Teves four piston front callipers offer excellent stopping power to match the performance. HISTORY FILE Built at Ford’s Genk assembly plant in January 1988, the first month of Sapphire Cosworth production, this example was registered new on the 12th February 1988 by Ford Main Dealer and RS official agent, Charles King of Bedford. The first owner was a Mr Ronald Shepherd, proprietor of specialist’s RS Engineering in Buckinghamshire. An avid Ford RS enthusiast and expert, Mr Shepherd was determined to acquire a brand new Sapphire Cosworth and attended the launch party at Charles Wells Ford on the 11th February 1988 to secure his order. He even kept in the history file newspaper cuttings advertising the launch party and other articles covering the event afterwards! The new vehicle sales invoice made out to Mr Shepherd confirms the price paid of £19,300. The history file is fantastic and includes the original Charles King Ford A5 wallet with original service book, handbooks, guides and POS literature, and despite the incredibly low mileage, the service book contains nine stamped entries. The most recent entry in November 2017 with supporting invoice is from renowned Cosworth specialist Harvey Gibbs of Supreme Car Services whereby a service and brake overhaul was carried out. There is a documented timing belt change in 2015 at 23,844 miles. Completing the comprehensive history file is every MOT certificate completed from the first in 1991 to the current in November 2017 along with service invoices and receipts. Articles of this car covered in classic car publications, original sales brochure and two Ford keys with Charles Wells fob complete the history file. Representing an incredibly well-preserved example of what is now firmly established as collectable Ford RS product, KGF Classic Cars are privileged to offer this genuine 24,608 mile example ready for the next custodian. Furthermore, there is a huge collection of invoices, MOT’s certificates and even a maintenance log kept by previous owners. All handbooks, guides and even original sales brochures have been kept. In May 2017 the car was auctioned by Historics at Brooklands where it sold for £4,928 including fees to a Mr Nigel Shepherd, an avid classic car enthusiast. Mr Shepherd, an existing customer of KGF Classic Cars, immediately spent a further £1,063.48 on a full tune-up and fuel system overhaul with supporting invoice in the history file. The decision to part with the Viva occurred only when KGF Classic Cars listed a low mileage MGTF, a car Mr Shepherd had been searching for some time. The next lucky custodian will certainly benefit and become the proud owner of one of the best HB Viva’s in existence. MOT May 2018, HPI Clear, Tax exempt. Finished in optional and striking Signal Green it has a deep, gloss shine which is amazing and an absolute pleasure to polish. An incredible photographic album revealing the painstaking works carried out to this former white example and an invoice for £26,500 for the privilege, helps explain the level of all-round detail. A five-page feature in the September 2017 Classic Ford Magazine tells the story of one owners desire to create a tribute to his first car and makes fascinating reading. The distinctive squared-up nose styling and front air dam has no stone chips and informs knowledgeable onlookers to the scarcity of this model only built between January 1976 and July 1978. All the trim is perfect, window rubbers are black and all decals are correct and present. The underside is body coloured and fully detailed for the show circuit. Utterly gorgeous and a real show stopper. INTERIOR The interior of this RS Mexico offers simple sporting pleasure. The twin high-back reclining Scheel front seats in Black fabric with head restraints are as new and offer incredible support. The carpets, washable black headlining and door cards are all unmarked with many invoices from Aldridge Trimming Ltd. All the gauges and warning lights function correctly with the ‘RS’ logo within the five white needle instrument cluster reminding the driver how special this Ford is. The RS dished leather steering wheel is a desirable Rallye Sport accessory and convenience features have been fitted such as the centre console, glovebox and Retrosound radio. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The Cologne-built 1593cc Pinto engine with a single overhead camshaft has been rebuilt by Toovey Race Engines with new pistons, polished crank and a big-valve unleaded head. The invoice in the history file for this work in January 2017 is £2,256. Aldon Automotive supplied, fitted and rolling road tuned Weber Twin Dual 44 IDF Carburettors for the perfect soundtrack at a further cost of £1,796.61. A top speed of 108mph and 0-60mph in 8.5 seconds can be expected. For real enjoyable use, a Type-9 5-speed Ford gearbox is fitted. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES This vehicle it fitted with the optional, genuine and desirable Ronal 7X13in Ford RS alloys in immaculate condition shod in new 185/60 R13 Yokohama A539 tyres. Vacuum servo assisted front disc brakes are ventilated with 4-pot callipers restored by Bigg Red. Standard rear drum brakes all renewed complete the package. HISTORY FILE In 1979 the current owner of this spectacular car, Mr Alan Bradshaw, bought his first Mk2 Escort, a year-old 1978 1600 Sport in Signal Green with a Black vinyl roof from Billinhams Ford in Wolverhampton. It was his first proper car and although always envious of his friends better spec Mexico, in 1981 the trusty Sport was traded-in for a brand new XR3. It was more than 30 years before a Mk2 was thought of again and after three decades of business success he allowed himself to relieve his youth and buy the Mexico he had always dreamt of. This example was registered on the 27th April 1978 and has had just five former keepers. With only around 2,500 Mk2 Ford Mexico’s made, (source Ford RS Owners Club), this car represents a rare breed! Positioned awkwardly in price and specification between a 1600 Sport and an RS2000 when new, the Mexico had a very short production run and therefore is now a highly sought after model amongst collectors. Mr Bradshaw outsourced the restoration of this example and the accompanying invoices for works carried out are eye wateringly expensive with a photographic album as evidence. Some of the photos also include his original 1600 Sport! The vehicle is registered with the RS Owners Club and a comprehensive history file of all works will reassure the next owner. An immaculate Ford Escort GT Mk1 Superspeed V6 Recreation. HISTORY Superspeed Conversions Ltd was a specialist racing company set up in the late '50s by two brothers, Mike and John Young in the East End of London. In the late '50s and through the '60s, Ford Motor Company did not have their own Works race team and outsourced this activity to three professional race car preparers. These teams were Alan Mann Racing, Broadspeed and Superspeed. During the Sixties, Superspeed operated from a garage behind the local Ford dealership at Ley Street, Ilford, East London and specialised in preparing and racing Ford Anglias for race drivers Mike and John Young, as well as Chris Craft and Nick Brittan. Highly regarded Superspeed Conversions Ltd would also convert new road cars for discerning buyers wanting sparking performance and bespoke performance solutions at a premium cost. EQUIPMENT Flared front and rear wheel arches, bonnet bulge, chrome door mirrors, Super Speed badges, anti-burst door locks, six dial dash, ammeter, tachometer, oil pressure gauge, heated rear window, interior light, Ford RS three-spoke leather sports steering wheel, padded dash, Modifications in brief: Ford Essex 3.0 V6, Type 5 gearbox, Capri Mk1 Atlas rear axle, front Bilstein suspension with uprated springs, Twin-Cam anti-roll bar, rear Spax shock absorbers, rear anti-tramp bars, brake bias pedal box, Wilwood 4-pot calipers, ventilated brake discs, adjustable thermostat cooling fan, Alley Cat alloys. EXTERIOR This pristine Mk1 Ford Escort is impeccably detailed and looks stunning finished in lustrous two-tone Blue metallic. Ford Mexico front wings, steel flared rear wheel arches, power bonnet bulge and beautiful twin exit exhaust pipes hint to the power beneath. The underside is spotlessly clean and in body colour allowing exhibitionists to show this amazing example. Linear panel gaps and perfect alignment indicates the professional craftsmanship invested in this car The impeccable paint finish is truly outstanding and would stand up to even the most extreme scrutiny with a wonderful glossy sheen. All the chrome, glass, and rubbers are perfect. Fabulous. INTERIOR Luxurious crushed Velour/Verona fabric upholstery finished in Tan contrasts the exterior beautifully and is all in perfect condition. The padded dash top, fascia, instrument binnacle and doors cards are also in remarkable condition. Subtle upgrades such as the RS three-spoke leather steering wheel, battery isolator switch and carbon trim all work well together. Attention to detail even extends to colour coded door lock buttons. The boot area is spotless and houses the spare wheel and car battery. Stunning classic Ford fun. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION An amazing Superspeed transformation has been performed with the bullet proof Ford 3.0 Essex V6 engine. Stunning detail to the immaculate engine bay will delight the show circuit attendee wanting to collect trophies and the engine sound track will please the enthusiastic driver. 138bhp is estimated with rapid acceleration through the Type-5 four speed gearbox. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Expensive, unmarked and highly polished Alley Cat alloys with colour coded centres are shod in Nankang Toursport 205/60 R13 tyres and look stunning. Vented front discs are gripped by Wilwood 4-pot calipers with EBC Greenstuff front pads and 3.0 Capri rear drums up rear to stop the car safely. HISTORY FILE Radically modified Fords worked on by Super Speed Conversions Ltd received such enthusiastic praise for their sparkling performance but were enjoyed by only a handful of individuals due to the cost. The previous owner Mr Colin Waine, failed to find such a car but always wanted one, so embarked on building the perfect recreation. Registered on the 16th May 1972 and with just four former keepers an un-welded shell formed the starting point in this costly project. Respected within the Ford community, the Waine Brothers are renowned for building some of the finest recreations to grace the Ford circuit and KGF Classic Cars are very proud and honoured to be able to offer this special car to a very lucky new custodian. Always garaged and having covered just an amazing 18, 727 miles with just one private owner from new, the factory first coat of paint in Ford Diamond White, (Code B3), is beautifully preserved with a bright shine and smooth uniform finish. All panels are original with Ford stamps and factory spot welds clearly visible, features lost immediately upon the usual repainting. The perfectly preserved underside is completely free from repairs and underseal, in fact anything other than yellow factory wax. Very faint markings and undulations are visible upon close inspection but are left untreated in order to uphold the very special 100% originality. All glass is factory fit Sekurit, and all light lenses are original Ford fitment with correct Kiney headlamps. Even the supplying Ford dealer number plates and rear screen sticker remain fitted! An almost inconceivable rare survivor and worthy of the best Ford collection. INTERIOR The interior is exactly as Ford intended and in perfect condition. The Tracer trim in Raven colour scheme, (Code LV), is no different now than when new in 1989! The colour-keyed velour carpet is truly immaculate and free from wear, and the perforated neutral tone headlining is flawless. All switchgear is functional and intact with a new feel, and the soft finish dashboard is perfect. The original Ford stereo radio (Model 2001) remains fitted. A spotlessly clean boot area reveals a pin straight uncut parcel shelf with the correct rubber hangers, and the lower boot storage areas have factory build stickers and foam insulation. An interior absolutely worthy of the often over used descriptive ‘time warp’, where even the 1980’s Ford scent has not been lost! ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The time proven transverse mounted 1117cc OHV engine with single-venturi carburettor develops 50bhp at 5000rpm and 83Nm of torque at 2700rpm. The standard specification manual choke and electronic ignition are both present and correct, and operate perfectly. In a car weighing just 750kg, performance while not exhilarating is certainly spirited, and the unmistakable exhaust note is delightful! The clean engine bay is totally original, even down to factory plates, stickers and even Motorcraft service items and blue PDI dots! The four-speed synchromesh gearbox is light and exact. A hugely nostalgic drive! WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The original 13” X 5” steel wheels and small black Ford centre caps are in excellent condition with a few tiny marks and display prominent stampings, a feature immediately lost upon refurbishment. The 155/70 R13 tyres have excellent tread remaining. The dual line servo assisted brakes with ventilated 9.4” front discs and 7.0” rear drums bring the car up straight and steady. HISTORY FILE Supplied new by Ford Main Dealer Currie Motors of Surbiton and registered on 16th January 1989, this Fiesta was pre-registered to the supplying dealer before being sold to the first and only private keeper, Ms Joy Edson. A customer purchase invoice made out to Ms Edson reveals a purchase price of £5,280, and her pride and joy was strictly garaged when not in use. The original plastic A5 wallet houses all handbooks and dealership literature as well as the service book displaying 17 stamped entries across three pages, all of which are Ford Main Dealers! The incredible low mileage of just 18,727 miles is fully verified in the amazing history file which includes supporting service invoices and every single MOT certificate from the first in 1992 to present, with none missed! Completing the history file is the original Blue V5 and two Ford keys both with supplying dealer fobs. To describe this almost unconceivably well-preserved example as better than most one year old cars is absolutely fair, and this Fiesta is a credit to Ms Edson and a testament to her love for the car. Dealer fit: Frigitte air-conditioning. EXTERIOR Astonishingly this sleek Datsun 240Z has never been restored and wears its factory Monte Carlo Red paint, (Code 905), with pride. The graceful distinctive lines still look contemporary today and draw admiration from onlookers. Minor marks and chips to the 47 year old body pale into insignificance when desirable originality is discovered. A deep shine to the paintwork from continual garage storage and amazing chrome work and bright trim will enable immediate enjoyment on the show circuit. Close scrutiny will even reveal factory spot welds to the wheel arches and sills along with small compressions to the wing tops from elbows during servicing. Purists will be thrilled to see an exposed underside in body colour with 56,000 miles of use but no corrosion or underseal. The glass still has the Nissan vehicle emission sticker attached. Remarkable in all respects. INTERIOR Contoured adjustable high-back bucket seats with built-in headrests and ventilation buttons are finished in Black vinyl and remain in perfect condition. Black carpeting has been protected by genuine Datsun rubber floor mats and incredibly all the diamond patterned trim to the foot wells, transmission tunnel and boot area is undamaged. The sports wood-effect steering wheel has discoloured with age and all instrumentation including the Jeco electric clock, self-seeking push-button radio and electric aerial function. The glove box still has the vehicle data sticker and key no sticker. The stainless steel Datsun sill covers to both sides and vehicle identification plate to the door shut remains attached. The large boot area is factory original even retaining the plywood spare wheel cover, luggage straps and toolkit all in pristine condition. Utterly fabulous. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION The in-line 6-cylinder 2393cc engine with twin Hitachi carburettors produces 150bhp at 5600rpm which propels the car effortlessly to 60mph in 9 seconds and a top speed of 125mph. Stunning originality from the unpainted orange air box with factory stickers to the Paint Code sticker on the front cross member are amazing testaments to the unmolested character of this rare survivor. A light and easy to use 4-speed gearbox with perfect ratios and near 50/50 weight distribution enhances the experience. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Distinctive and attractive wheel trims proudly displaying the ‘D’ emblem are virtually unmarked and again have escaped the popular alloy wheel replacement. All four wheels are shod in matching Michelin Harmony 195/70 R14 tyres. Incredibly the spare wheel still wears the factory supplied white-wall Pirelli Cinturato CN75! Fail-safe stopping power with a dual hydraulic braking system and power front disc brakes and Al-Fin drums at the rear for positive braking in any weather. HISTORY FILE This thrilling Z-Car is a remarkable survivor with a verified ownership record of just two individuals. Purchased on the 16th June 1971 by Richard E Friese, an Air Force pilot then stationed at Robins Air Force Base Georgia who remained the custodian for 43 years! The Certificate of Title present in the history file along with a personal letter to the only other owner and UK resident, Mr Christopher Roberts, confirms the transfer of this special car took place in July 2014. Mr Friese writes an account of how he managed to acquire the car and jump the long waiting lists by having a lunch appointment with the owner of the Datsun Dealer in Cochran Georgia and bringing along a cold six pack of beer! Mr Friese gives a fascinating account of how the 240-Z was only a second car covering low miles while he was based at various locations including RAF Brize Norton when he was a Navigator/Bombardier in Strategic Air Command. At the age of 80 the decision was made to sell the car. The second owner wanted the very best, lowest mileage unrestored example money could buy and was delighted to acquire this prime example. Magazine featured on two separate occasions and now available to a lucky third custodian wanting the pure unadulterated Datsun experience. MOT August 2018, HPI Clear. Accessories: Fire extinguisher. EXTERIOR The distinctive 2+2 Pininfarina of Turin design is typical Ferrari of the period and looks glorious finished in deep Rosso Corsa (Code FER 300/9). First paint credentials still retain a glossy shine thanks to perfect storage and very low mileage credentials. All Cavallino Rampante badges along with all other trim is in perfect condition. The Saint Gobain glass carries the Ferrari logo and the plastic rear screen is crystal clear, again with the Ferrari logo. The louvre panels across the bonnet, body sides and engine cover are unmarked and only two tiny marks to the wing tops can be seen. The prominent rectangular side turn-indicator lamps affixed front and rear to all U.S. vehicles remain. There are themes that are unmistakeable – from the front grille, to the air intakes, to the circular rear lights, this is the perfect Ferrari in so many ways. INTERIOR Fully trimmed in luxurious Connolly tan hide the supportive bucket-shaped seats are fully commensurate with the incredibly low miles covered. All electric features are fully functional and the Veglia instrumentation is iconic 80’s genius in orange slanted italic design. The polished open-gated gear selector is unmarked and reminds the driver of classic Ferrari ownership with added 2+2 practically thrown-in. Purists will note the visible grain on the Momo leather sports steering wheel because of the low miles covered and colour code sticker in the luggage compartment often lost in the first few years of ownership. All front and rear compartments are factory fresh with one tiny split to the boot carpet. This really is very close to a brand new Ferrari Mondial. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION A Ferrari-cast lightweight alloy V8 power plant with a displacement of 3,185cc employing four valves per cylinder, Quadrovalvole QV, technology and is favoured by many thanks to superior performance compared to earlier models lower maintenance costs compared to the complicated final Mondial t. Performance is quoted at 270bhp with 0-62mph in 7.4secs and a top speed of 155mph. A recent full service including all cam-belts and inspection was carried out in March 2017. A 5-speed transmission with a dog-leg pattern is precise and light thanks to a replacement clutch assembly and is controlled perfectly through the Ferrari open-gated gearshift selector. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES Virtually perfect light alloy cast rims benefit from convex centre and smoother angled spokes all featuring pristine yellow circular centre caps bearing Ferrari's black Cavallino Rampante rearing-horse logo. A tiny mark to one alloy wheel is barely noticeable. All four tyres are correctly sized premium Perelli P700z items with the unused front mounted spare still wearing the factory supplied Goodyear Eagle VR55. As this is a later car from 1987 it incorporates the ATE anti-lock braking system with ventilated disk brakes to all four wheels. HISTORY FILE From a total production of just 810 3.2 Mondial Cabriolets this exquisite November 1987 produced Ferrari represents a rare car. With just 2,868 miles from new it represents a virtually unrepeatable car too! Coming from the dry state of Texas and owned by Ferrari collector and enthusiast, Dr Raymond Westbrook, this car was sourced by the current UK owner famous for housing some of the lowest mileage Ferrari models in existence. The only reason for parting with this collectable example is to house an identical car with even fewer miles! Limited history is present due to the low mileage covered other than a CarFax data report records revealing 10 annual check-ups between 1995 and 2002. As piece of mind the vehicle has undergone a full service, cambelt change and check over by Migliore Cars Ltd in March 2017 at considerable cost also including conversion of headlamps and rear fog lights for UK purposes. At this time Director Kevin White of Migliore Cars Ltd inspected the car to offer a professional opinion in writing that the mileage is correct. The vehicle has a valid UK MOT certificate and NOVA clearance allowing the next custodian to be the first UK registered keeper. The factory original paintwork in optional Brooklands Green Metallic, (Code 963), boasts a stunning gloss shine and uniform finish. Only very close scrutiny will reveal a miniscule ding to the rear nearside quarter and a tiny chip to the bonnet, utterly insignificant to an otherwise pristine finish. All trim sections and original Renault Sekurit glass are near perfect, and even the dealer supplied rear number plate and rear screen sticker remain fitted. The original badges are intact and the 2.0S and RTi side plaques hint towards this models sporting credentials. Beautifully preserved in amazing original condition and exactly as Renault made it. INTERIOR The interior of this Laguna is spotlessly clean and in excellent order. The original sports seats in ‘Jarama’ Velour, (Code LJ), are unique to the model and manage to be supremely comfortable yet supportive with firm bolsters. The dashboard and associated switches, controls and functions all look, feel and operate as new. All gauges and instruments operate perfectly and show heathy readings, including the dual purpose oil level and coolant temperature gauge which illuminates to read oil level for 30 seconds after starting, before reverting to read the coolant temperature. The original Blaupunkt 60-watt hi-fi remains fitted and fully operational, and even the supplying dealer tax disc holder is still fitted! A sumptuous and spacious interior with super soft furnishings, typically French and ready to transport you back to a 1996 Renault showroom! ENGINE & TRANSMISSION A lively and sporting 1948cc 16v fuel injected engine develops 140bhp at 6000rpm and 182Nm torque at 4500rpm. 0-62 is dispatched in a respectable 9.8 seconds and top speed is 127mph. Fastidious upkeep by the one and only owner, a keen Renault enthusiast, has ensured optimal mechanical condition and a superb driving performance. The clean engine bay displays factory panel stamps, identity plates and stickers as well as a cambelt change sticker. A cambelt change has been carried out and full quality exhaust system in 2016 at a cost of £428 will offer further peace of mind. The five speed manual gearbox operates exactly as it should and the clutch is light and positive. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The factory fitted steel rims remain fitted with the original Seville wheel trims which are in virtually unmarked condition and completely intact. Brand new premium quality Bridgestone Turanza 195/60 R15 tyres were fitted in 2015, virtually unworn and are another hint towards the no expense spared mentality towards vehicle upkeep. The spare wheel with unused Michelin tyre is housed in the spotless boot area with factory paint codes still attached. ABS Anti-lock brakes perform very well and offer assured stopping power. HISTORY FILE Registered new on 29th March 1996 by supplying Renault Main Dealer Evans Halshaw of Warwick, the first and only ever keeper is a Mr Peter Reed. A keen follower of Motorsport and avid supporter of the Renault Laguna British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) team, Mr Reed ordered this 2.0S RTi 16v example for its mid-range sporting credentials and even kept the original sales brochure. The car was his pride and joy which is obvious in the cars condition, driving manner and history. Having made the difficult decision to give up driving on health grounds, the next lucky owner is certain to benefit from 21 years of devoted care for his pride and joy. The excellent history file includes the original black leather wallet housing the stamped service book as well as all handbooks, guides and point of sale literature, even down to the dealership staff business cards! A beautifully presented history folder contains service and maintenance invoices dating from the first service in 1997 to the new exhaust system in 2016, and incudes a documented cambelt change at 37,000 miles. The very low mileage of 45,107 is fully verified and previous MOTs have been kept, as well as both original Renault keys with working fobs and the original blue V5 document. A very rare surviving example of an often neglected Renault Laguna, a dare to be different modern classic and an absolute credit to the one and only keeper. MOT May 2018, HPI Clear. The rear parcel shelf is pin straight and has remained free from speakers cut outs. 1980’s Ford RS perfection! ENGINE & TRANSMISSION Fitted with Fords 1600 Compound Value angle Hemispherical chamber (CVH) unit producing a manufacturer quoted 115 BHP. Mated to the Bosch K Jetronic Fuel Injection System, correct twin coil set up (brand new), and incorporating deceleration fuel shut off, the instrument orange and red lamps illuminate upon deceleration once the engine is at operating temperature and the engine speed is above 1600rpm. The car has a top speed of 118mph and achieves 0-60 in 8.7 seconds with an addictive and instantly recognisable exhaust rasp. The pristine engine bay displays a Motorcraft battery and components meticulously powder coated and gold passivated. The gear changes are light and exact, a pleasure to operate. WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES The original 15 X 6 inch RS seven spoke alloy wheels are pristine and correct to the RS1600i model having only one spoke on each wheel stamped with the Ford emblem as opposed to the more common RS Turbo fitments with three stamped spokes. The wheels are shod with matching premium Dunlop Sportbluresponse 195/50/R15 tyres all round, brand new in 2015. Diagonally split hydraulic circuits with tandem master cylinder, vacuum servo assistance and 9.4” ventilated discs up front bring the car to a steady halt. HISTORY FILE Registered new on 1st August 1983, the history file for this outstanding RS1600i is simply mind blowing. The colossal history folder contains paperwork and documents dating back to the early 1980’s and also includes the original handbooks, operating guides and RS1600i launch literature. More importantly, a complete photographic and documented restoration file has been beautifully prepared and presented, one which thorough perusal would take literally hours! The previous owner, Mr Alan Bradshaw, acquired the car and commissioned only trusted and renowned establishments to carry out the restoration with one remit, he wanted the best Diamond White RS1600i they could produce, no expense spared. The huge restoration log takes the car right back to scratch and covers everything from bodywork preparation to a fully rebuilt engine and gearbox. Reputed specialists, RS Classics, were handed the car once more to complete the commissioning process, with a final invoice in the history file dated January 2017 for £2,025.29. Altogether an amazing journey to bring this iconic RS Ford back to its former glory, with an eye watering outlay far in excess of its value. A quest undertaken simply for the love of the car is certain to benefit the next lucky enthusiast owner of this amazing car, soon to feature in an upcoming edition of Classic Ford Magazine. This wonderful example has just two keepers and covered 53,374 miles from new. The first keeper, Mrs E Fellows, owned the car for four years until Mrs Mair Stuttard, a 2CV enthusiast, purchased the car in June 1992 and has owned it ever since! The original Citroen plastic wallet houses the stamped service booklet along with all handbooks including the owner’s manual, maintenance guide and Citroen corrosion guarantee. Incredibly, every MOT certificate from the first in 1991 to present has been kept in the neat history folder to fully verify and track the mileage. Two sets of original Citroen keys are present. After 25 years of ownership, Mrs Stuttard has made the difficult decision to sell her beloved 2CV, ready for the next lucky custodian to experience the huge pleasure the car is given her virtually all its life. Positioned awkwardly in price and specification between a 1600 Sport and an RS2000 when new the Mexico had a very short production run and therefore is now a highly sought after model amongst collectors. This car is one of just two known to the RS Owners Club finished in Black. Built in November 1976 and registered February 1977 the car had a genuine Black Ford Mexico Service Shell supplied by the Ford Saarlouis plant in 1979. The original shell finished in Signal Green was damaged. Not recorded but noted by the unique Build Plate the history and authenticity of this car can be validated by the current Mk2 Mexico Registrar, Steve Ogle. An incredible history file neatly and chronologically ordered packed with invoices, photo albums and correspondence will also reassure the next custodian. The current owner, Mr Glyn Morgan is a respected member of the RS Community and performed the role of Mk1 Escort Registrar for six years. Upon the owners retirement the vehicle was inherited by his son, Mr J Green, who used the vehicle sparingly until 2002 when a total of 42,140 miles had been covered. Every MOT and tax disc has been neatly filed until this point when careful storage followed. Mr J Green made the difficult decision to part with the car knowing it was his fathers pride and joy but they both wished the vehicle to go to a good home. A suitable owner was found by KGF Classic Cars in July 2016 whereby Mr Singgih, an Indonesian national and avid Honda enthusiast, purchased the car having owned the exact model many years ago. His plans to export the car to his home country were sadly thwarted by masses of red tape and associated costs. KGF Classic Cars were delighted to purchase the car back in readiness to find the new lucky enthusiast owner. Every document has been retained, from handbooks to sales brochures when purchased new. The service book still has the Honda Owners Card neatly housed in the pouch to the inside front cover and all keys with dealer key fobs are present. A rare unmolested and fun modern classic.
