Chassis number 660882 is a genuine UK supplied right hand drive matching numbers car, supplied new by Botwoods Ltd to Carl Giles, the former Daily and Sunday Express cartoonist. Launched in 1948 at the Earls Court Motor Show, the XK120 was an in instant hit for Jaguar, it was their first post-war sports car and Sir William Lyons himself was instrumental in the development of its shape and form. This particular example made several appearances in Giles’ work and was competed by him in the 1952 Daily Express National Rally. The car offers a spirited drive powered by the Jaguar XK 3.4 litre straight 6, developed during the war with aluminium head and double overhead camshaft (a design which lived well on into the late 1980’s). It was capable of a top speed of ‘120’ mph, making it the world's fastest standard production car at the time of its launch. This most wonderful of XK120s comes complete with a vast history file and current FIA papers, presented in its original and un-restored condition, it drives exceptionally well and has a wonderful patina.
