1986-1994 JAGUAR XJ6 3.6/4.0 (XJ40) specifications

The larger six-cylinder engined XJ40s were an entertaining mixture of old-school styling and cutting edge dynamics. The earliest 3.6-litre cars with their ‘Tokyo-by-night’ dashboards were riddled with electrical niggles that ended up frustrating their hapless owners. But following Ford’s takeover and a significant injection of cash, the much-improved revised 4-litre cars appeared in 1990. The larger engined cars featured conventional instrumentation, uprated electrics and a much torquier engine, making them easier to drive.
