It was the the fastest car in the world, but the XJ220 never quite hit the mark.
When the Jaguar XJ220 was unveiled at the 1988 British Motor Show, the crowds were awe-struck. The V12- powered 200mph+ four-wheel-drive supercar had been developed by engineers in their own time and promised to beat the Italians at their own game. Deposits were taken and production was promised for 1990. Two years later, the production version emerged with rear-wheel drive and a twin-turbo V6. Many demanded their deposits back. Today however the XJ220 is being reappraised and revalued as a genuine jaw-dropping supercar and landmark Jag.
