Jaguar's new F-Pace SUV is set to offer a high-performance 375bhp top model
After much teasing, Jaguar has finally revealed the production version of its new F-Pace luxury SUV model at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show. The fastest model shares its 375bhp supercharged V6 engine with other models, although more sensible petrol and diesel engine choices will be offered.
Jaguar has apparently engineered the F-Pace’s chassis to feel rear-wheel drive biased on the road, thanks to ‘Intelligent Driveline Dynamics’ while the sophisticated multi-link suspension set-up is a promising sign for those who like their SUV to handle well. There is also a barrage of electronic systems to aid the F-Pace in more slippery conditions.
Three engines are to be offered from launch, a 178bhp diesel four-cylinder, 296bhp diesel six-cylinder as well as the 375bhp petrol range-topper. All models will send power to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, with the exception of the smallest 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which is specified with a six-speed manual transmission. This entry-level model is also the only model that can be bought in rear-wheel drive only form.
The F-Pace is a fairly compact vehicle, and thanks to the use of lightweight aluminium throughout, the F-Pace is claimed to weigh in between 1655kg and 1861kg depending on engine and spec.
Going on sale right now, UK prices will start at £34,170, with a special launch edition model also offered from £65,275. Just 200 of these will be produced worldwide, fitted with the V6 diesel engine, Caesium Blue paint as on the motor show car, and a number of other desirable options.
