As with the purchase of any E-Type Jaguar, the collection date is an exciting day to look forward to. For this incredible E-Type’s first owner that day was 22nd October 1965 and his enthusiasm is inked into the page of his calendar, in which he’d hand-written and circled a reminder to “Pick up CAR today.” Astonishingly that very calendar page remains in the charming history folder, which also details much of Robert Staelon’s 30-year ownership. Invoices for servicing and maintenance show not only Mr Staelon’s pride of ownership, but that the mileage of under 38,000 miles is in fact genuine from that very October day in 1965. A full and thorough Eagle inspection process has also confirmed this car’s astounding originality and has proven it to be one of the best unrestored examples we’ve seen. Both of the important aspects of condition and factory finish are superb, providing further evidence that this car has never been taken apart. The patination to the matching colours paintwork and leather is wonderfully charming and, unlike many original examples, still highly presentable and usable.
