1964-1968 JAGUAR E-type S1 4.2 Roadster specifications

Never one to sit on its laurels, Jaguar continued to develop the E-type throughout its life. The first results of this programme of improvements came in 1964, when the newly-enlarged XK engine was installed under the E-type’s bonnet. Although the maximum power output remained unchanged at 265bhp, torque was up usefully, improving driveability. Other improvements included the arrival of a fully-synchronised Moss gearbox. Worth slightly more than the 3.8-litre Roadsters because of the improvements.
