When it exploded onto the automotive landscape in 1961, the E-type effectively redefined the way in which we all viewed sports cars, and how much you could expect for your money. Although the famous 150mph runs in pre-production models were never replicated by owners, the E-type was still fast enough to send supercar manufacturers back to their drawing boards. The recipe was simple enough – a 3.8-litre XK engine married to a beautiful and aerodynamic body designed by Malcolm Sayer, underpinned by all-independent suspension.
