Isotta Fraschini takes Pebble Beach 'Best of Show'

Highlights and gallery from the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance

More than 200 amazing cars took to the fairway of the Pebble Beach golf course for the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the 65th running of the event. A stunning 1924 Isotta Fraschini Tipo 8A, taking the overall Best of Show award.

Originally built by Carrosserie Worblaufen of Switzerland in 1931, this Sport Cabriolet was first unveiled to the public at the 1933 Geneva motor show. Shortly after its unveiling it went on to win the Grand-Prix d’Honneur in Cannes. This great example has actually spent most of its life in Europe, before being bought by Jim Patterson of Louisville, Kentucky in 2014.

The 2015 event marked a few various occasions, including the world-beating Shelby Mustang GT350’s 50th anniversary. A total of eight Mustangs were shown, with five of them built in ’65. One of the most interesting was the fully-restored example shown by US racing star, Bobby Rahal. Awoken from its 27-year slumber in a field by the three times CART Champion a little over two years ago, this beautiful example has been well and truly rescued.

Ferrari was also a celebrated marque at this year’s event, owing to last year’s overall winner - a 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti. One of the standout models in the mostly red display was the ex-Mike Hawthorn Ferrari 250 MM Vignale Spyder from 1953. One of the great things about this example is that Swiss-based owner Kurt A. Engelhorn enjoys the car, entering it in various historic motorsport events.
