The F430 Scuderia was unveiled by Michael Schumacher at the Frankfurt Motor show in July 2007 and was the most potent road-legal version of the 430 produced by the factory. A gap had been left since the 360 Challenge Stradale production ended in 2005, and this model filled the void by being lighter, more powerful, rawer and technologically more advanced than its standard sibling.

Thanks to a high compression motor with re-mapped engine management and a sports exhaust, output was increased from 483 to 510bhp, this being developed at an unchanged 8500rpm. This increase in performance gave the Scuderia a 0-60 mph time of just 3.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 197 mph. The F1 transmission also came in for some attention, Scuderia's used Ferrari's latest generation 'Superfast' software that reduced gearchange time to just 60 milliseconds. Other important developments were made including a new traction control system that combined the E-Diff electronic differential and the F1-Trac traction and stability control in a single integrated system; E-Diff-2. Ride-height was dropped by 15mm, firmer springs and dampers were installed along with bigger carbon ceramic brake discs. The front ca

The Lotus Evora was first unveiled at the 2008 British Motor Show. It was based on the first all-new vehicle platform from Lotus Cars since the introduction of the Elise in 1995. The name “Evora” keeps up the tradition of Lotus cars beginning their model names with the letter “E”. The name is derived from the words evolution, vogue, and aura. The Evora offered exclusivity in a competitive market flooded by cars such as the Porsche Cayman. The car was available from launch with a 3.5 litre V6 petrol engine, which produced 276 bhp and an impressive 350 N/m of torque. Lotus then brought out the supercharged Evora S, which increased power up to 345bhp and an additional 30lbft across the rev range. The Evora GTE was a race car developed by Lotus Motorsport for the global endurance GTE category that included races such as the infamous 24 hours of Le Mans. Lotus planned to build a limited number of road cars to celebrate their Evora GTE achievement at Le Mans, housing a tuned 440bhp engine, sequential gearbox and the distinctly wider bodywork found on the race car. Sadly the project was never fully completed and production was halted with only 25-30 pre-production road cars being built. I

It subsequently spent some time in Ireland before being re-imported by the founder of the De Tomaso Owners Club, Phil Stebbings, in 1981 where it acquired its “W” registration. Mr Stebbings converted the car to GT5 spec using factory original parts and replaced the engine with an original spec Cleveland 5.8 litre V8. The bodywork also included an industry first, with its shapely exterior panels been hot-formed by a process called “Superforming.” The Vanquish S followed and was launched to the public at the Paris Motor show. Offering increased power and performance and slight styling revision. Powered by a hand built 5.9 litre V12 engine producing 520hp, giving a 0-60 time of just 4.8 secs and going onto a top speed of just over 200 mph, making it Aston’s quickest car to date. Transmission comes from a six-speed electrohydraulic manual transmission. • BMW Z8 Roadster

    For sale
    £245,000

The BMW Z07 concept car, first shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in October 1997, blossomed from a dream into a production reality. Production of the BMW Z8 was announced at the Detroit Motor Show in January 1999. Designed for connoisseurs, the BMW Z8 was both very exclusive and a technological tour de force. Its blend of aesthetic design and dynamic performance is born of BMW’s desire to show how the 1956 BMW 507 might have developed had it been an integral part of the BMW range in the intervening period. The evocative and exotic style of the Z8 echoes the concept design very closely. The broad kidney grille and small xenon headlights faired in by glass covers flow into a long bonnet with muscular wheel arches and wide doors rounded off by a shapely yet purposeful tail with four large tailpipes. The Z8 even bears the typical 507 air scoops on its front wings whilst a luxurious leather interior is set off by a central instrument binnacle typical of that elegant era of convertible cars. Under the skin the Z8 is pure technology. The Z8 is built on an aluminum alloy spaceframe and carries an all-aluminium body. The power unit for the vehicle is no less than the 5.0l V8 engine from the M5.
