1939-1948 HILLMAN Minx Phase I/II specifications

1939-1948 HILLMAN Minx Phase I/II specifications Classic and Performance Car

While its upright looks were very traditional, the Hillman Minx Phase I was actually quite novel in some of its body design; not only was there half-unitary construction but also a rear-hinged bonnet rather than the then-usual cumbersome side-opening doors. Introduced in 1939, the car continued to be built for forces use during the war, returning to the civilian arena in 1945. The 1185cc 35bhp sidevalve engine and conventional suspension were little to get excited about, although at least the Phase II of 1947 added hydraulic brakes.
