1960-1968 DAIMLER Majestic Major
What was most majestic and major about 1960’s Majestic Major was its engine... Daimler’s new 4561cc V8 with hemispherical combustion heads, designed by Edward Turner. An impressive 220bhp gave a top speed of 120mph, making the Majestic Major a superb luxury express and one that was easy to drive thanks to the automatic transmission and power steering. The bodywork remained largely unchanged from the standard Majestic, save for a longer boot. For 1961 there was a two-ton limousine version, which was dubbed a ‘120mph funeral taxi’.
