1938-1953 DAIMLER DB18/Consort

Overview

Daimler started moving towards smaller, more sporty cars before World War 2, with its DB18 proving quite successful in rallies. World War Two caused a hiatus in production, but the car returned afterwards largely unchanged as a saloon or drophead coupé. A 2522cc six-cylinder engine gave 70bhp and reasonable performance. Things moved forward with the 1949 Consort, an update of the design with headlamps that merged into the wings, the grille and bumpers developed curves and hydromechanical brakes were fitted.
