1956-1962 AC Ace-Bristol

Overview

From 1956, all those who had criticised the Ace for its lack of power got an answer (though it was to be the first of many): Bristol’s six-cylinder unit of similar capacity was bought in. Of slightly newer and more sophisticated design, most were supplied in 128bhp spec, though a few were delivered with 125 or even 105bhp. The better Bristol gearbox was also used, with overdrive a popular option. They were sold at a price premium alongside other Aces and one was driven to the 1959 Le Mans 24 Hours, winning the 2.0-litre class and finishing seventh overall.
