1949-1960 JAGUAR XK140 FHC
Introduced as a replacement to the XK120, the XK140 was a slightly bigger and heavier, but more powerful, car. These characteristics changed the whole driving experience, and rather than being an uncompromised sports car, it was a much more comfortable and relaxed long distance cruiser – unless you were in the coupé’s tight rear seats. Upgrades included the standard fitment of rack and pinion steering (from the C-type) as well as optional power assisted steering. Coupés are worth less than roadsters, but are still very satisfying to drive.
Independent, torsion bar
Beam axle, semi-elliptic leaf spring
rack and pinion
Four-speed manual with overdrive
