Sales of the 2016 Mustang top 2000 ahead of November arrivals
The 2016 Ford Mustang has over 2000 confirmed sales to UK buyers, ahead of the first deliveries in November. This announcement comes as the very first right-hand-drive units begin to roll off of the production line in America.
For the first time in history the famous muscle car will be available in RHD for the UK market - a move that so far has been met with great enthusiasm.
The right-hand drive Mustang is available to order in the UK from £29,995 for the EcoBoost model, and £33,995 for the more appealing V8.
Ford has revealed that 80% of UK customers have opted for the fastback body style over the convertible and 70% have specified the 410bhp 5.0-litre V8 engine over the efficient 313bhp 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. The Mustang’s six-speed manual transmission is the slightly more popular choice (55%) over the six-speed automatic, which comes with paddle controls.
Over half of UK Mustangs have been specified with the Custom Pack which includes satellite navigation, a Shaker Pro 12-speaker audio system, heated and cooled front seats, a rear view camera, silver alloy wheels and extra chrome detailing on fastback models.
UK residents are likely to see red variations of the car over other colours, with 23% of the orders requesting the colour. Silver and black are the joint second most popular colours, with 16.1% of buyers selecting the shades.
The first of the next-generation Mustang units have begun rolling off the production line in recent weeks, at the Flatrock Assembly Plant in Michigan, North America.
