Russo and Steele to offer a number of iconic and extreme American Ford and Shelby models.
US auction house Russo and Steele is preparing for its next annual Newport Beach Collector Automobile Auction on 10-12 June, where it will offer a number of interesting fast Ford models from the company’s interesting history.
While the legendary Ford GT is arguably one of the most iconic, Russo and Steele will also offer a number of other exciting Fords in the sale. If you’re a fan of some of the more highly-tuned Mustangs, then you’re also in luck, with various models from the original Shelby GT500 to the very latest 2016 Shelby GT350R.
Here are a few of the best:
2006 Ford GT
This later-spec GT features a number of rare and desirable factory options, such as the uprated McIntosh cd player and sound system, forged alloy wheels and – most importantly – a silver stripe! This black and silver car is somewhat reminiscent of the original Le Mans winner, and with 2500 miles on the clock is ready for some action of its own!
1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Fastback
This 1967 GT500 is one of just 2048 built, and is a matching numbers car. That means the original 428 Police Interceptor engine is present and correct, with original BJ & BK dual quad carburetors. Upgraded with a period correct Toploader four-speed manual transmission, the spec sheet is packed full of useful options, including power steering, power brakes, Stewart-Warner gauges, comfort weave bucket seats, factory five-spoke Kelsey-Hayes wheels, wood-rimmed steering wheel and functional factory roll bar.
2016 Shelby GT350R
Built to be the most extreme incarnation of the Shelby Mustang, the 2016 GT350R features the most powerful naturally-aspirated road-going engine ever built by Ford. Making use of a flat-plane crank and an 8000rpm red line. Various carbon fibre parts used on the vehicle add to the theatre, with a large wing and even carbon fibre wheels.
2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R
Another extreme Mustang, this one from the turn of the century, has covered a meagre 1600 miles since it was built. This SVT Cobra R was originally specified with a conservative 385bhp from its 5.3-litre V8 engine, Borla side exhaust, Tremec six-speed manual transmission and Bilstein independent suspension. To help shed weight, the air conditioning, radio and rear seat were all deleted.
