Ford’s officially sanctioned tuning arm has boosted the new Ford Focus RS to 370bhp
The the Ford Focus RS has the been one of the most tunable affordable performance cars since it was launched in Mk1 form in 2002, and the latest Mk3 model has just been given its first tweak by Ford tuner Mountune.
Power has risen to 370bhp with torque also increasing to 376lb ft, up 25bhp and 29lb ft up on the standard Focus RS. Not a huge rise on the standard car, but Mountune claims an improved 0-62mph time of 4.5sec – 0.2secs up on that of the standard RS.
To achieve the power boost, Mountune developed a package in conjunction with Ford Performance, which includes a high-flow air filter, strengthened alloy ducting, silicone hoses, an upgraded air re-circulation valve and of course an ECU re-map.
One of the major appeals of the upgrade to RS customers, as with other Mountune upgrades, is that it is officially sanctioned by Ford, meaning that the company’s three-year, 60,000-mile mechanical warranty on the RS remains fully valid.

‘Ford has a proud history of working with Mountune to unleash even more power from our hot hatchbacks for dedicated performance enthusiasts,’ said Tyrone Johnson, vehicle engineering manager, Ford Performance. ‘Boosting power to 375 PS launches the already class-leading Focus RS even further ahead of the field.’
Ford’s high performance turbocharged offerings from the Sierra Cosworth through to the latest Fiesta ST have a great reputation among the tuning community, and Ford has really embraced this with its Mountune upgrade packages.
The upgrade will take roughly an hour and a half to carry out at any Mountune-appointed Ford dealer, and will cost a total of £899.
