A 2004 Ford Focus RS Works Rally car will be sold alongside other competition car at the Silverstone Auctions Race Retro Sale.
A Works Ford Focus rally car, driven by Markko Martin to two rally victories, will go on sale on 22 February. Offered by Silverstone Auctions at its Race Retro sale, it is just one of many interesting competition cars making up its catalogue of
Estimated at between £180,000-£200,000, the Focus WRC car saw moderate success in the WRC, finishing five times in the top ten and winning the Corsica and Catalunya rallies.
At the end of the 2005 season, the car passed into the hands of Steve Perez, founder of the Vodka Kick brand. Perez entered the car into many nation rally events from 2006 until 2009, when the car was retired. It was sent to M-Sport at the end of last year for a full £50,000 rebuild, and it’s sold ready to rally, back in its 2004 Castrol livery.
Another rally car that is being sold by Perez is a 1975 Datsun 260Z Safari rally car, which is estimated at £180,000 and £200,000. It’s a recent build, and was created on a no expense spared basis in 2007.
Managing director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale, said: ‘We’ve had the pleasure of selling some very special rally legends in the past and these two cars only add to that list. And what better venue than Race Retro for which to offer them to market.’
