1992-1996 FORD Escort RS Cosworth specificationshttp://www.classicandperformancecar.comClassic and Performance CarClassic and Performance Car
Just like the pumped up Sierras that preceded it, the Escort RS Cosworth was a supercar for the people: brash, confident and up for anything. Backed up by a successful rallying career, over 7000 were sold, despite the crippling insurance premiums they attracted. The turbocharged two-litre twin-cam in original cars kicked out 227bhp. This dropped to 217bhp from 1994 when the turbo was changed to a smaller Garrett T25 unit. In compensation, this made the car much nicer to drive, with better throttle response.
