Octane is working with Shelsley Walsh to host two concours during 2018, as part of a new partnership
Now in its 113th year, the Worcestershire-located Shelsley Walsh Speed Hill Climb is one of the UK’s most historically significant motorsport venues, not to mention one of Octane’s favourites. For 2018 we will be working with Shelsley Walsh on two concours, taking place during two of the venue’s biggest 2018 events.
First up is a pre-1985 concours, which will be held at the Classic Nostalgia weekend on 28-29 July. The second will be for post-’85 cars during the Championship Challenge weekend on 11-12 August.
Octane’s Youngtimer Concours on 12 August opens up a new opportunity for car owners coming to Shelsley, catering for owners of younger classic cars – a first for the venue. This will focus on cars from the 1980s and 1990s, from some of the iconic homologation specials – Ford Sierra and Escort Cosworth, Lancia Delta Integrale, Toyota Celica GT-Four, Subaru Impreza and Mitsubishi Evo – through to modern day supercars.
Other events taking place over the August weekend will reflect the history of Shelsley Walsh, with the fastest cars in the British Hill Climb Championship expected to hit over 145mph across the finish line.
Octane Magazine will have an increased presence at the venue together with offering members of Shelsley Walsh’s organising club, the Midland Automobile Club, and fans of Shelsley Walsh Octane subscriptions both on site and digitally.
Octane will also have access to the Shelsley Walsh archive, which contains a lot of never before seen historical material.
