1976-1979 FORD Cortina Mk IV specifications

The 1976 MkIV marked the converging point of Germany’s Taunus and the UK’s Cortina, and from that point on, a pan-European model strategy. Under the skin, it was similar to the Mk3, but the range now included a Cologne V6 for the top-of-the-line Ghia models. The MkIV was a UK best-seller every month it was on sale, and that success was all about being able to offer its demanding customer base exactly everything it wanted. Today, it lacks the ‘70s retro appeal of the Mk3 despite being longer lived and more successful. German-made cars have lasted far better.
