And so the end of a legend, with the final genuinely exciting Capris
As exciting as the Mk2 was rational, the Ford Capri
Mk3 was one of the industry's most effective facelifts. Quad headlights, wrap-around bumpers and a plethora of TV appearances restored the Capri's mojo. The Essex-powered 3000S and Ghia were replaced by the 2792cc Cologne V6-powered 2.8 Injection in 1981 and gave the flagship a 127mph maximum speed – Porsche 944 performance for two-thirds the price. Best of all was the Brooklands Green 280, the last Capri of them all – a mere 1038 were made. Values of the best are rising fast. Prices for V6 models.
